We all know what it’s like to look inside our closets and see that impulse buy, still hanging untouched since the day it was bought. This dilemma contributed to the creation of Brand Together, an online retailer of lower-priced designer fashions. Brand Together is a non-profit with a one-of-a-kind business model that promotes sustainability and gives back to important causes.
Individuals and designers can donate unwanted luxury clothing and accessories that are resold at a low price, and all of the proceeds go towards organizations supporting a variety of significant causes. They even recently raided international blogger, actress, and model Cara Santana’s closet. She showcases every fashionable moment on her website CARADISCLOTHED and proudly supports Brand Together! Plus, Brand Together is an environmentally conscious option to prevent waste, a problem which is all too common in the fashion industry.
I spoke with Cassandra Weinman, the Co-Founder and Director of Client Relations, Press Outreach and Branding at Brand Together, who also happens to be one of the five lovely ladies who started this amazing company. She explained to me how Brand Together is truly their ‘passion project’: while working together at a fashion corporation, these women collectively realized that they didn’t feel fulfilled in their careers. At the same time, they were becoming painfully aware of a common phenomenon of unused and unworn designer clothing hanging in full closets, after visiting a famous friend’s closet full of swag gifts. With these realizations in mind, they launched Brand Together. Their e-commerce site offers a wide array of designer items including BCBG, Marc Jacobs, and Michael Kors, so you’ll truly look good and feel good shopping their online site. They partner with organizations such as Step Up, a mentoring program based in L.A. for young women at risk, and Two Wings, which helps women in sex trafficking.
In addition to benefitting those in need, Brand Together is an optimum choice for many designer brands, who may have products that weren’t successful in sample sales or are extra stock, and they can feel good knowing that their donations will go towards a good cause. Plus, donations to Brand Together are tax deductible for everyone and can be curated into a special shop for charities, individuals or brands and will be picked up directly by a team member or shipped free.
Whether you’re looking for a new summer dress or have some items that you want to get off your hands, know that you can give back at the same time.
