I started out blogging because I love bringing exposure to amazing brands and unique businesses. It wasn’t because I have this InstaWorthy sense of style and can put together the best outfits in the world. I LOVE styling fashion shows and other people, but styling myself doesn’t always come easy for me. So, I tend to play my looks pretty safe. I am currently working on taking some more wardrobe risks though! I felt like this look needed something else, so I threw on this plaid button up c/o of Shaun. I’m pretty proud with how the outfit turned out and I think it may have even ended up being my favorite look of NYFW. Two lessons here: 1.) don’t be afraid to step out of your fashion comfort zone and 2.) upon committing to a relationship, you have full rights to raid your boyfriend’s closet.

I think the mix between elegant lace and relaxed plaid is why I love this look so much – I’m a huge fan of merging two different styles and textures to create a fun balance. That’s the secret to never looking too overdressed or underdressed. This super affordable Navy Ivory Dress ($30) is from Kyoot Klothing, a lovely online boutique. The navy lace overlays an ivory lining and the back is a low cut, but still above the bra line. The earrings are from Express and the necklace is also from Kyoot! It’s the Lariat Tassel Chain Necklace ($9). I have no idea where the leggings are from, but these delightful lace up booties ($54) are from Francescas.
I rocked this outfit to the Noon by Noor show! Have you been following my other NYFW coverage? The column is called, Runway to Real Life. It’s where I give you business and life advice inspired by the SS16 catwalk. =)
