And now, how to make your mani last!
Once you select your fabulous nail polish color, you need to keep it looking fresh of course! Who has time to fix chipped nails everyday? We’ve asked nail guru and owner of Elliven Spa, Ashley Thompson, to spill a few of her secrets for keeping your manicure looking fresh:
- Always get a manicure without soaking your hands in water. The water absorbs into the nail and will then later release causing polish to chip!
- As old fashioned as it sounds gloves really are a girl’s (manicure’s) best friend. Always always always wear gloves when doing dishes or cleaning. Or hire a cleaning lady! Lol
- Top coat your manicure every other day. This will help keep them shiny and reseal any loose edges to help prevent chipping.
- One of the most important things for a good looking manicure is a healthy nail! Find a good manicurist and commit to weekly or biweekly manicures. Keep your nails healthy by using a nail strengthener specific to your nail needs. All nail strengtheners are not the same. There is no such thing as a universal nail strengthener. Dry and brittle nails need something totally different than thin and peeling.
