Despite the fact that it’s way easier for a lot of us to find the motivation to go outdoors during summer, sometimes, we get bored. We are humans, after all. We can only do the same thing(s) so many times before they lose some of their luster.
If you’re like me, you’re always searching for new outdoor activities to try. Not only does it keep things interesting and reduce the chance of boredom, but it can also get your body to use certain muscles and move in ways that it doesn’t always get the opportunity to. To me, that’s a huge added bonus since I’m always trying to keep my body in tiptop shape.
Okay, the wait is over! Continue reading below to see some of my favorite, rare/unique outdoor activities that you need to try this summer!

Kan Jam
I love tossing a frisbee around, and this game adds another element to that. It’s a great game to play with friends if you don’t feel like being too active and getting super sweaty.
Badminton
Okay, so, this may not be a super rare game, but I had to include it. From childhood, badminton has been one of my favorite outdoor activities, and I feel like it isn’t played nearly enough. So, I hope that even if you have played it in the past, you’ll set that net up, invite some friends and family over, and have some classic badminton fun this summer!
Giant Jenga
This game is for when you feel like spending some time outside, but don’t feel like really being active at all. However, that does not take away from the fun you can have with this game! The best part about this game is that it’s great for most ages and doesn’t require a lot of skill, so no one has to feel like they can’t participate.
Cornhole
I almost didn’t include this one, but after asking around, I was surprised by how many people told me they’ve never played it, so here it is. This is another classic outdoor game that doesn’t require a whole lot of physical activity, but it does require some skill. Also, be warned: it can get extremely competitive!
Spikeball
If you’re a fan of Shark Tank, you may already be familiar with this game. This is one you need to be prepared to move and sweat for, so dress appropriately! If you’re in the mood to be active, this is definitely worth a try. It will challenge you, but it’s also easy to get the hang of and a lot of fun!
Ladderball
Another game that’s not physically demanding, Ladderball is a fun game at any age. While it requires a little bit of skill, it’s also a game anyone can pick up and try without frustration. It’s perfect for a relaxing family function and chill night at the house with friends.
Mini Golf
I mean, can you really have a list of outdoor activities without mini golf? This is quite possibly my favorite outdoor activity, simply because there are so, so, so many different mini golf courses to try. On top of that, when you find a good one, it doesn’t feel repetitive if you go to it more than once. My only advice: if you can, try not to make it too competitive, because it can definitely take away from some of the fun. Trust me, I’m guilty of this fairly often. *Sorry Allyn ; ) *
So there you have it! I really hope you’ll give some of these a try this summer, even if you have played them in the past. I’d also love to hear about your experience with them, along with any other outdoor activity suggestions you may have for me in the comments below!
