How often does skin regenerate itself?
Approximately every 27 days, your skin completely regenerates itself. Isn’t that CRAZY?! 27 days and the old, dead stuff falls away to make room for what is fresh and new. So, if you’re feeling stuck in your old ways, if you’re feeling like you’re incapable of change and rebirth and renewal, remember your skin is already doing it – almost every 4 weeks! This is irrefutable proof that the power to reinvent yourself is already a part of who you are. Think about that! And while I wanted to give you a little bit of inspirational food for thought to start your day off with, what we are really here to talk about are the vitamin C serum benefits for your skin.
As one of the most powerful antioxidants, vitamin C works naturally to help with collagen production (a process that unfortunately starts to slow down in our 20s). Collagen is what gives skin its structure and support, so it makes sense that as its presence decreases, skin begins to look looser, fatigued, and less supple. Not to worry though, I’ve found something to help!
The Vitamin C Serum I’m loving right now
It’s been about 2 weeks since I started using Hēladerm’s Vitamin C Serum. While I have tried vitamin C serums in the past, and have been a fan, I typically don’t love how they smell. This one is near scentless and has a touch of a light, fresh smell that goes away upon application. Even though it’s thicker than other vitamin C serums, it still leaves you with the same ungreasy, light feeling when applied that serums are praised for. It absorbs very quickly and makes my skin feel gently moisturized right away! In 2 weeks, I’ve already noticed the texture of my skin improving and an added glow that wasn’t there before. I’m telling you, this stuff is the real deal (and you can grab it right on Amazon because 2-day shipping is the best and right now, automatically save $2 off your first order when you grab it from Amazon)!
Vitamin C serums are also claimed to help with acne scarring, which is the most major skincare concern I’m attempting to combat right now. As I continue using this, I really look forward to seeing if any of my scars diminish!
If you aren’t intrigued already, here’s a list of other Vitamin C Serum benefits:
- Stimulates your skin’s own collagen production
- Reduces and prevents the appearance of fine lines
- Reduces damage from existing dark spots
- Helps with hyperpigmentation and discoloration
- Reduces visible signs of aging
- Tightens and plumps look and feel of skin
- Restores natural, youthful radiance
- Deeply moisturizes to reduce dehydration
- Evens out skin tone and smoothes skin texture
- Protects against environmental stresses like UV exposure, free radicals, pollution, and stress
Playing well with other ingredients
Recently, I’ve been diving into a pretty extensive skincare routine. I significantly neglected my skin for years and I believe that’s starting to show, whoops. I’m trying to fight wrinkles, reduce/prevent acne, heal acne scars, keep it hydrated, and achieve that healthy, glowy look. That being said, I’m currently using a lot of products (and some of them, like those for acne, are on the harsh side). I have not had any issues or irritation with adding Hēladerm’s Vitamin C Serum to my routine! It has Vitamin E in it, which in addition to soothing and protecting the skin from sun damage, also helps balance out the unstable nature of Vitamin C. Additionally, Hēladerm’s Vitamin C Serum contains a large percentage of Hyaluronic Acid, a natural moisture-binding humectant that softens, plumps and soothes dehydrated skin.
When to use: After I wash my face, I use a toner and then put this on! Since Vitamin C products tighten the skin, it’s important to use a moisturizer after applying the serum.
Shelf life is important
In doing my research for this post, I learned that the problem with many Vitamin C serums is their shelf life and stability. Many Vitamin C products, especially those that sure “Pure Vitamin C” contain “ascorbic acid” or “l-ascorbic acid”, which are unstablized forms of Vitamin C. While effective, these will only last for about a month and turn a brownish color when they are no longer effective. Sodium ascorbyl phosphate, the form of Vitamin C in Hēladerm’s Vitamin C Serum, has much stabler molecules that pure vitamin C, but retains the same benefits.
Worth noting
While Vitamin C serums may seem pricey for such a little bottle, know that 2-3 drops are all you’ll need per application, so it will last you a long time!
All of Hēladerm’s products are made in the US, cruelty-free, and made without parabens, phthalates, GMOs, sodium lauryl sulfates, petrolatum, mineral oil, artificial colors, and fragrances.
Like with any addition to your skincare routine, you have to be patient while also using the product regularly and as directed to see results.
