As a girl who identifies with jewel tones, I must admit, I’ve been highly underestimating the power of pastels. However, when I recently took a wool blend pastel pink coat to France with me earlier this month, it changed everything! Stepping out in the soft, fresh hue made me feel beautiful, bright, and chic when it was gloomier outside. Plus, it was the perfect way to stay stylish when I knew I’d be spending the majority of most days outdoors wearing a coat.
What to Style a Pastel Coat With:
When my outerwear becomes my outfit (rather than just being something I have to wear to stay way that covers up my outfit), I generally style it with something simple underneath like skinny jeans and a basic top, or ponte pants (this pair from Spanx is 1,000% worth the investment) and a complementing sweater when I want an outfit that’s especially warm.
The Hadley belted wool blend coat from Gal Meets Glam Collection that I’m wearing here is over 60% off on Nordstrom Rack right now and is also available (and on sale!) on the GMG site in a neutral oatmeal color and a classic black option as well. I do want to mention that it does have a looser fit, which I opted for so that I can style it with cozy, chunky sweaters, but if you want a more fitted coat, be sure to size down!
In a sea of dark tones, I’ve realized the elegant statement a pastel winter piece can make is uplifting and empowering. It’s this feeling that has inspired me to explore more ways to add pastel colors into my winter to spring outfits and I’ve been dreaming about investing in similar style pieces like this affordable lilac coat, this mint green overcoat, or this double-breasted sky blue trench coat. With warmer temperatures still quite far away, these coat options will embrace your excitement for spring while still keeping you warm and cozy. Plus, almost all of them are on sale!

For a lightweight option, try a pastel pink trench coat:
For something cozy and practical, look into a pastel puffer jacket:
In addition to blush pink pieces, I’m also anxiously awaiting the arrival of a few dreamy lilac pieces (like this striped blouson sleeved beauty from Sanctuary), and I’m on the hunt for some mint green to add to my pre-spring wardrobe, too. Maybe this super cute and classy button cuff sweater?!
