From my understanding, tartan refers to the type of fabric some plaid pieces are made from (often more of a wool-based fabrication). Unfortunately, that distinction is often lost and some pieces are labeled “tartan” as an interchangeable word for plaid rather than referring to the type of fabric. Needless to say, if you want to broaden your search for plaid dresses, be sure to try searching the word “tartan” as well. I can’t speak to the fabrications of the options below, but the dresses sure are gorgeous!
