Thank you. These two words are what we want to hear from people when we do something for them. These two words can take someone from being happy to sad. These words have a lot of power when they are genuinely said. Stop and take a minute for yourself right now. Envision at least three people and three things you are grateful for. The meaning of grateful is to feel and show an appreciation of kindness; thankful. The difference between just saying thank you and feeling grateful is action and emotion.
When you are grateful for something your life starts to change right in front of your eyes. I know from experience it can be hard to feel grateful sometimes. We are human and it can become normal for most of us to take advantage of people and things. The next time you do say thank you, stop. What I mean by this is stop using the robotic thank you we become so used to expressing. Then breathe. Allow yourself to think about what you are grateful for. Finally, feel appreciation for what another human being has done for you.
It can be a hard thing to learn how to do, but I promise you it is rewarding. Right now I would like to take my minute to thank my mom, dad and uncle Mike. Thank you mom for dealing with my dramatic mood swings and loving me when I seem unlovable to any other human. Thank you dad for teaching me that sometimes all we need is ourselves, some hiking boots and a beautiful waterfall or mountain to look at. Thank you uncle Mike for teaching me the biggest lesson of all, which in my eyes is learning to start all over again when your world turns upside down.
Happy Mindful Monday everyone! Today say thank you to someone and feel it!
