A Classic Red-and-White Wrap Dress for Summer

In This Post: One of the best parts about summer is getting to wear cute dresses, and I’m so glad I recently added this classic red-and-white wrap dress from Who What Wear x Target to my wardrobe!

Now that the 4th of July is over, I finally feel like I can break out red-and-white outfits without being overly on-trend (I prefer to create more classic looks with pieces that can be worn over and over again in my wardrobe). Let’s be honest, is there a more fun and fresh color combo for warm weather than red-and-white? No, there isn’t. An outfit or piece that is a true red hue is universally flattering and will look amazing on any skin tone. Top that off with the effortlessly flattering look of a wrap dress and you just can’t go wrong with an outfit like this!

I actually was not all about how this looked on me in the fitting room (even in my Instagram poll you all told me not to get it!), but once I saw how it looked at home and now seeing it in the photos, I am SO glad I added this ruffle wrap dress (plus size version here) to my wardrobe. With the intensity of some personal stuff that’s going on right now, I honestly wasn’t sure I could muster up the mental or physical energy to go out for a day of exploring and photographing. It was so nice to know I had an option in my closet that I didn’t have to think much about styling and something I knew I’d feel great in. Not having to go through that, “OMG what am I going to wear?!” process saved me the energy I needed to make it though the day – and helped to lift my spirits back up!

This lightweight summer dress is from the Who What Wear collection at Target and it literally is only $34.99. I wore this for a few hours exploring the gorgeous flowers at Phipps Conservatory (one of my favorite Pittsburgh spots), but it’s so perfect for picnics, cookouts, concerts, beach trips, vacation, and basically all of the summer holidays. There is not one summertime event you couldn’t wear this dress to! Not to mention, this is also a style that is completely appropriate to wear to work.

Video still makes me incredibly nervous (so it would absolutely make my day if you subscribed to my YouTube channel), especially when I’m showing off clothes and not just talking. But, I felt like I needed to get footage of the movement of this dress to truly do it justice when talking about it. The flow and how the ruffles breeze along the hemline makes me so happy (I know, I’m weird). The tie can be worn either off to the side or centered, and there’s a snap closure at the top for a bit of extra coverage if needed. I paired it with almond toe flats, but this would also look cute with little white sneakers, or a wedge espadrille.

I pulled the look together with a pair of beaded tassel earrings and a pinkish nude envelope clutch (it has a pretty gold strap so you can wear it as a shoulder bag or crossbody, too!).
