A Perfect Purple Dress at Pitt

In This Post: During a recent Target run (which happens almost every day, because, you know, Target is incredible), I bought this purple dress perfect for all summer occasions – especially as a wedding guest dress!

The Look: lavender dress // open toe mules (similar herehere, and here) // purple tassel earrings (similar here) // cutout envelope clutch (also worn in this wrap dress look)

This gorgeous $27.99 lavender dress is another recent Gem that I found from Target! Immediately, I thought this would be perfect as a wedding guest dress look. Since I didn’t have any weddings on my schedule to attend, I wore it for a bit of exploring around The University of Pittsburgh (also known as Pitt), which just so happens to be where I went to college.

For wedding guest inspiration, I’ve paired this must-have dress here with open toe mules (similar herehere, and here), Trumpet and Tassel earrings (similar here), and this cutout envelope clutch. Pair with summer sandals or lower heel/flat slides for a more casual look.

While I’ve driven by Pitt a hundred times since graduating, I haven’t been out of my car to walk around at all. One of my favorite things about going to school there was the beautiful architecture of many of the buildings; in particular, The Cathedral of Learning. It was my favorite study spot just because it felt so majestic to sit inside of. I remember going there when my mom went back to school, so I always loved the feelings of nostalgia being able to study where she did.

The outer scenery and florals of the cathedral made it the perfect backdrop to capture a few photos of this dress. I felt one with the flowers as this dress, which perfectly matched the hydrangeas, swept back and forth in the soft summer breeze. Isn’t the lavender hue simply dreamy??

You can see in this week’s video just how beautifully it picks up the light and also how it flows when walking and twirling (I always love a good twirly dress!). This dress is also perfect for a date-night dinner, Sunday brunch with the girls, and occasions like baby and bridal showers, too. The fabric tie around the waist creates a classically feminine look resembling a wrap dress. The billowy draped fabric is both flattering and forgiving for an always flattering fit.

Is this a look you’d wear? Make sure to let me know in the comments so I can continued putting together outfits that fit your life!
