If you see me regularly in person, you might have noticed I’ve been wearing makeup more often than usual lately. I love doing my makeup, I really do, but sadly I often feel like I don’t have the time it takes to do it. I am by no means blessed with anywhere near perfect skin, but when I’m in the zone working and have to leave shortly, I feel like my time is better spent crossing tasks off my to-do list – in that moment at least. And while I am proud of my ability to walk out of the house with nothing on my face but a swipe of mascara on my eyelashes, I never regret it when I do make some extra time to add a few touches of makeup before heading out the door.
NYX Cosmetics recently sent me some goodies in the mail (unboxing video above!). I’ve only played with a few of the products because I’ve been busy taking time to smell the daffodils, find the perfect Mother’s Day gift, and enjoy an Orlando vacation with my fam. But, so far I did come across some terrific time-saving beauty products that have given me the opportunity to indulge in the confidence boost a bit of makeup can give while also still quickly getting out of the door! I’m sure you’re going to love these Gem Finds, too, because not only is the quality great, but your wallet will love love LOVE the affordable price points.

1.) HD Photogenic Concealer Wand ($5)
I’m obsessed because this concealer is thin, which makes it perfect for some larger spots of redness and discoloration on my face that I like to cover up without it looking like there’s a thick layer of something on them. Then, for more troublesome spots like pimples and blemishes, I add another layer or two to that specific area. If it’s an especially troublesome spot (for example, I have this cluster of teeny tiny pimples in between my cheek and nose right now that will not freaking go away), I let the second layer sit for a minute or two before dabbing it in. I currently use both the Light and Medium shades depending on where I’m putting it on my face.
2.) High Definition Finishing Powder ($10)
I cried literal tears two weeks ago when I ran out of my beloved KAT VON D Lock-It Setting Powder. Then, I remembered I had this to try! The NYX High Definition Finishing Powder blurs out the appearance of my pores for a more even, smooth complexion. Plus, it’s perfect for setting the concealer we just talked about! With the concealer, this powder, and a matte primer, I’ve been skipping foundation (and saving tons of times) lately.
3.) Butter Gloss in Crème Brulee ($5)
The Crème Brulee shade of this non-sticky gloss is perfect for spring. Lying in between a nude and a pink, it’s just the right amount of color to swipe on for any occasion – which means I don’t have to spend extra time trying to figure out what lip color to wear. Lips feel soft, smooth, and buttery. I’m also a fan of the soft shine it gives rather than a super intense wet look you’ll find with a lot of other glosses.
4.) Makeup Setting Spray – Dewy Finish ($8)
I put this dewy finish spray on right after I do my makeup (but before putting on mascara) to lock everything in. I’m a culprit of resting my head in my hand throughout the day when I’m sitting or working at my computer (I know, I know – this is a bad habit with the acne I deal with), but this does help prevent my face makeup from rubbing off. And I love the dewy but not oily finish it gives to my face. It makes my skin look glowy and fresh!
