Now having swapped sweeping dress silhouettes for structured jeans and lots of layers, I’ve been craving the more elegant side of fall and winter looks lately. The idea of a sweater dress has always appealed to me, as it combines two of my favorite items – dresses and sweaters. However, finding one that flatters my figure has never been easy. Determined to find the perfect style (but not hopeful enough to make a big investment in a sweater dress for winter), I recently held a lengthy research session to comb through the best sweater dresses on Amazon.

After reading many, many reviews, I opted for this oversized sweater dress in a neutral grey color, a shade I recently realized is lacking from my closet. It’s a long sleeve sweater dress that is incredibly soft (so much softer than I anticipated!) and cozy. The fabric has a really great weight to it, which I also appreciate. It’s thick enough to offer a smooth, concealing look, but thin enough that you can still layer it under fall jackets and winter coats. The relaxed look and full lantern sleeves only add to both the ease and elegance of this dress. It pairs just as easily with leggings (find my pick for the best leggings ever here) for a laid back look as it does with tights and heels for a dressier outfit that you could even wear to work. I look forward to cozying up in this for lazy days at home, too, because it’s that soft and comfortable.

One of the features I love about this long sleeve sweater dress is that it does already have some shape to it compared to other oversized sweater dresses that often seem to have a straight, uncurved cut. To dress it up for an elevated outfit and give it a more waist-defining look, I added a black skinny belt. This belt set is honestly one of the coolest things I’ve ever bought on Amazon. These cute belts close in the front and adjust in the back so that there’s never any extra end awkwardly hanging out. They pair perfectly with a number of the sweater dresses on Amazon!

To complete the look, I paired this grey sweater dress with black tights and black ankle boots. Not only was this outfit still comfortable, but styling it this way offers a professional sweater dress outfit as well. It’s the perfect cute winter outfit for those of us who are missing our dress collections this time of year. This sweater dress would also look so cute with thigh high boots, which is unfortunately probably a look I’ll never be able to embrace with my muscular legs that never fit into super tall boots. Nonetheless, I’ll keep pairing it with the array of ankle boots that I have in my collection!
