E! News anchor Giuliana Rancic has joined forces with The Pink Agenda , a breast cancer research fundraising organization. Together, they’ve created an initiative called Fab-U-Wish. Since our Key Cause this month is breast cancer awareness, and Fab-U-Wish recently granted a wish in our hometown of Pittsburgh, we had to show a little love here on the blog:
“Thank you to the @Steelers for making a #fabuwish come true this weekend in Pittsburgh! @thepinkagenda”
The Pink Agenda is a nonprofit that raises funds for breast cancer research and care, including funding research grants and direct care grants. They’re also committed to raising awareness of the disease among young professionals, as they believe that engaging today’s generation is an important step toward finding tomorrow’s cure. Founded by Liana M. Douillet Guzmán, Marisa Renee Lee, and Jaquelyn M. Scharnick, The Pink Agenda partners with people and programs that improve the lives of those suffering from breast cancer, including Bonobos, Diptyque, and now, Giuliana Rancic.
“There were many factors that helped Giuliana during her struggle to conceive and the resulting pre-IVF mammogram that revealed she had early-stage breast cancer, including her husband Bill’s unwavering support and the love and encouragement she received from fans all over the world.
But getting all dolled up for work—having her hair and makeup done, putting on a glamorous gown, and receiving the full Hollywood treatment—helped too, serving as its own form of therapy that made her feel more like a princess than a patient. By indulging in the things that made her look and feel good, Giuliana was able to retain her confidence and optimism even in the midst of her devastating diagnosis. Now, Giuliana wants to share that experience with other women battling breast cancer, and, together with The Pink Agenda, make their most fabulous wishes come true.”
