Date Night In Playlist

Whether you're looking for something to set the mood for a romantic Valentine's Day, or you just want some slower jams to have cued up for any date night in, this playlist has got you covered. The songs in this playlist are sure to set the tone for the romantic evening you're hoping for!

I enjoy and appreciate just about every style of music.  Depending on my mood or the situation or the occasion, I like a little bit of everything.  If you’ve seen any of my previous playlists, this one may seem a bit different, but, to me, these songs set the mood for a romantic date night in.  I’d also love to hear your suggestions, because I’m always looking for new music and artists to discover!

1.) True Colors by The Weeknd

As one of my favorite artists and voices, I had to include something by The Weeknd on here.  This slower jam off the album “Starboy” reminds me of some of the songs from his original mixtapes (rereleased as “Trilogy”) that made me fall in love with him.

2.) Bananaz by Ray J (feat. Rick Ross)

I feel like this is a lesser known song, and I honestly don’t even remember how I discovered it.  However, it’s a perfect fit for a date night in from Ray J’s more melodic verses, to the interesting high-pitched chorus effect, to Rick Ross’ distinct style of rap.

3.) Vertigo by Jason Derulo (feat. Jordin Sparks)

These two were still a couple when this song was released (as one would imagine), and while they’re no longer together, it’s still a great song to add to any date night in playlist.

4.) Sex Room by Ludacris (feat. Trey Songz)

I mean, let’s be honest, the title of this song doesn’t leave a whole lot to the imagination.  If you’re familiar with Ludacris, you might have an idea of what to expect from this song.  As probably my favorite rapper, I think just about anything Ludacris touches turns to gold.  The addition of one of my favorite vocalists, Trey Songz, makes this song an instant standout for me.

5.) Insatiable by Darren Hayes

While he didn’t seem to get much notoriety in the US, the former Savage Garden frontman found a lot of success overseas as a solo artist.  From the opening chords and electronic drum beat, this song sets the date night tone.

6.) Explode by TGT

Another fairly lesser known song by the supergroup consisting of Tyrese, Ginuwine, and Tank, this song was one of many I could’ve chosen from their debut album “Three Kings”.  If you’re familiar with any of their work as solo artists, it should come as no surprise that their collaborative efforts would make it onto a date night in playlist.

7.) Find Me by Tyler Carter

I’ve included Tyler (either as a solo artist or with his band Issues) in some of my previous playlists, and I’ve mentioned that his voice is one of my all-time favorites.  He also has some fantastic Adele covers that are worth checking out.

8.) Make Love by Keri Hilson

I’ve been in love with Keri Hilson’s voice from the first time I heard it, and I fell even more in love when I got to listen to her albums.  As far as female RnB goes, she’s at the top of my list.

9.) Neighbors Know My Name by Trey Songz

I first discovered Trey Songz when the album this song came from, “Ready”, was released.  Since then, I’ve actively followed his career and purchased all of his albums and downloaded all of his mixtapes.  He quickly became one of my favorite artists, and I could listen to his voice all day.

10.) Luv Songs by The-Dream

A severely underrated artists, in my opinion (at least around the Pittsburgh area), is The-Dream.  Not only do I love all of his music, but he has also worked with many other artists to create some songs that I’m sure you’re familiar with, either as a co-writer, producer, or both.

11.) Lessons For The Lover by Usher

This was another case of having several options to choose from.  I went with this one because I don’t think it’s quite as popular as some of the more obvious choices, and I was a huge fan of “Looking 4 Myself”, the album this song was featured on.
