Do you remember a few weeks ago when Shaun and I showed you how to style jogger pants for a lazy day in one of our “He Said, She Said” posts? Well, the best part about the right pair of joggers is that not only can you dress them down, but you can also dress them up! So, in this look, I’ve taken the same pants I wore from our casual day out and gave them a completely different look.
Now, I don’t know how long we’ll be able to get away with wearing heels with sweatpants, so this is the time to live it up. Aside from starting a business, I’m not exactly a live life on the edge kind of girl. So, it honestly makes me feel like a badass when I’m wearing a look like this. I feel like heels with sweatpants is supposed to be wrong, but I think the photos from this outfit are proof that it can absolutely be done right (if I do say so myself, *wink* *wink*)!
Here are a few simple tips to follow to be sure your dressed up jogger outfits are also a success!
1.) Choose a high quality fabric
There are so many jogger pant options out there in everything from luxurious fabrics to see-through cotton, and the material makes a huge difference in how put together or office friendly your outfit will look. The Ralph Lauren ones I’m wearing here are a thicker knit and have satin side stripes, which add a more polished feel compared to super casual, thinner options.
2.) Use structure on the top half of your look
Because joggers are loose, the key to dressing them up is contrasting bagginess with something structured like a blazer or denim jacket.
3.) Add a pointed toe heel
Again, it’s important to be mindful of the loose nature of these pants. Not only will a pair of pointed toe heels add a dash of elegance, but they’ll also elongate your legs – win, win!
4.) Pick a statement piece of jewelry
Nothing dresses up a look like a shiny object! But, too many jewels can make it look like you’re trying too hard. So, just pick one piece of jewelry to highlight. With the mauve color of the t-shirt I’m wearing, I knew this Carolee necklace would be the perfect touch to finish off the outfit.
