Back in the days when I used to live in Central New Jersey, every now and then my family and I would take a day to visit New Hope, PA. It’s been many, many years since I’ve been there! I’m not sure if it was the inviting nature of this little town, or memories sliding up from the back of my brain, but I couldn’t believe how much of it seemed so familiar.

Look for a post soon on styling wide legged cropped pants, but for now, I’ll tell you that this outfit was perfect for walking around in all day. The relaxed pants (similar here, here, and here) were loose, so even though it was a hot day, I never felt uncomfortable (and I didn’t freeze when we went in somewhere blasting the air conditioning). I love to pair contrasting hues of the same color when I’m putting together my outfits, because it never fails to give a clean, aesthetically pleasing look, which is why I picked a soft blue blouse to go with the navy pants. The bell sleeves added such a cute touch. My family kept joking about how it was a very “boaty” look, which I didn’t mind because New Hope is a riverside town. In my opinion, the look was certainly appropriate for the location (even if my family just doesn’t understand my fashion choices)!
We started our day off with lunch on the riverside terrace at The Landing Restaurant. The food was great, the staff with courteous, and even though it was a very scenic spot, we didn’t feel underdressed in our casual outfits, which is always appreciated. I bet you this place is so pretty and relaxing at night!

After lunch, I was too busy snapping photos of all the attractive details around me (and then running to catch up with my family) to do much shopping, but there were so many unique boutiques to browse through. It’s always such a bummer when I travel somewhere and all of the local shops seem to have the same items and souvenirs in them, which is definitely not the case here. It’s hard to find things that aren’t crafted my local artisans throughout these shops!
One thing I did make sure there was time for was ice cream! I make a habit of trying to search out the best local ice cream spots for everywhere I travel to (because ice cream is my favorite!). In New Hope, there’s no shortage of sweet sites to stop at, but we picked The Last Temptation. I had a rainbow sprinkle, hand dipped chocolate cone that held scoops of delicious vanilla caramel pretzel ice cream.
Every storefront has its own character to it. I could’ve spent all week getting to know the stories behind each business! Aside from the shopping and food options, I fell in love with the charming architecture all around the town. From colorful doors and mindfully tended to flowers, the details of New Hope make it a truly special location! I didn’t know this at the time we were there, but there’s a also a wildflower preserve in New Hope, PA that I bet would have been lovely to visit!
There’s a bridge over the Delaware River that connects New Hope to another quaint town called Lambertville (which is in New Jersey), which has a smilier feel. I was excited to head to Lambertville a few days after our New Hope trip for a wine tasting at Tomasello Winery. Afterwards, we waited out some gloomy rain over the comfort of coffee at Lambertville Trading Company (they’re so savvy that when you get an iced coffee, the ice cubes are made of coffee so that it doesn’t get watered down – GENIUS!). We were hoping the rain would stop and that we’d get to walk around the town’s artistic streets, but the weather just wasn’t on our side. I did, however, go home with an amazing bottle of blackberry mascoto and got to spend time with my best friend in the world (we’ve known each other since kindergarten!), which absolutely made the day worth it!
