Who wants to wear the same things as everyone else? No one. That’s the beauty of shopping at boutiques. They offer exclusive selections that their customers will love, and their owners spend a lot of time hand-picking unique products for their boutiques. As a lover of fashion and boutiques, Texas girl Becka Clark turned her passion for fashion into a fun and exciting career by opening an online boutique called Kiki La’Rue and instilling these values into her shop. She took the term “online boutique” to another level by offering a large selection of accessories, shoes, and clothing in sizes ranging from XS to 3XL. She believes that every woman deserves to feel beautiful and look fabulous, and in giving women this opportunity and providing outstanding customer service, Kiki La’Rue is on the rise to becoming one of the country’s fastest growing retailers specializing in designer clothing and accessories at an affordable price for the fashionistas on a budget.
KA – Can you tell me a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to open Kiki La’Rue?
BC – I’m a working mom of a busy and social 7 year old. I’ve been married for almost ten years to the only man who can handle the crazy (Lucky me, he just happens to be super hot too!). I started KLR soon after Steve Jobs died. I started reading about him and he was just so inspiring. I had been in real estate for about 13 years and was just over it. I wanted to work for myself and I was tired of not getting to spend time with my family. I love clothes and my friends liked what I had so I dabbled in selling a few things I loved and it really took off! I wanted to sell enough clothing to be able to work from home and go to all of my son’s baseball games and never worry about being late…I never imagined it would be the multimillion dollar global company it is now! We are moving into a warehouse more than five times the size of our current 6000 sq ft space and it’s just unreal. Last year, I was churning out orders from my living room and this year, we will be shipping to 13 new countries!
KA – Let’s talk fashion. What kinds of apparel do you sell at Kiki La’Rue?
BC – We sell young contemporary clothing for anyone from the college girl to the modern mama. We want you to look classy and trendy without breaking the bank! I can’t say it enough; we don’t just want to make a dollar, we want to make a difference. We want women to see that no matter if you are an XS or a 3X, you can feel beautiful in the skin you are in!
KA – Why do you think Kiki La’Rue has taken off so quickly since its grand opening last January?
BC – At Kiki La’Rue, you know that you are getting quality clothing at an affordable price. I have traveled all over the country to scout clothing. I’ve been presented with items that may be cost effective but were awful quality. We post about that on our social media. More than once, we have sent over 2000 dresses back to the designer for quality issues. We have an entire team whose job is to inspect and pack your order! We want you to be delighted when you open that box! You earned it! We ship CRAZY fast and for FREE! So many places offer free shipping to reel in the client and then the order sits on a desk for 12 days (happened to a staffer recently). We get your order out the same day, so if you live in DFW and order on Monday, your item will be at your door on Tuesday! If you are in Cali, you will have it in three days or less! We run a report every day to make sure each item was scanned and sent! I want our clients to shout from the rooftops about the amazing service they have received. I want them to know that we have their best interest at heart! We may call you because you ordered a medium in a top and we know you and your bust size and we think you should size up! That kinda customer service cannot be beat!
KA – What is your favorite part about your job?
BC – My most favorite part is hearing woman all over the world talk about what a life change getting up and getting dressed has been for them! It sounds so trivial, but clothes really do have the potential to make women feel amazing about themselves and I absolutely love hearing from fans who agree! So many people will tell you that KLR is more than a store. It’s a movement. Thousands of women have become the best of friends through this clothing store. We often participate in Random Acts of Kindness and we consistently work with charitable organizations. We are determined to put a smile on your face and in your heart while making your closet just as happy!
I highly recommend that you check out Kiki La’Rue on their website. They carry some of the cutest necklaces, sweaters, cardigans, and boots I’ve ever seen, and their selection is full of clothing that’s absolutely perfect for this fall season. They’re also active on Instagram, so you can follow them as they continue to grow as a retailer. Plus, they always post discount codes and contests for their followers, and who doesn’t love that?! I enjoyed learning about Kiki La’Rue and its mission, and I hope you did too!
