For most women, their wedding days are the most magical and enchanted days of their lives. In order to make sure that the big day runs smoothly, however, TONS of planning is involved. From selecting a venue to narrowing down the guest list, planning a dream wedding is no easy feat. On top of all the extensive planning, brides have the biggest decision of all to make: choosing the perfect wedding dress. Are you looking for a vintage lacey number, or a silky mermaid gown? Sparkly details, or major pouf? And once you figure that out and find a dress you love, will it fit into your budget? Thankfully for brides-to-be, Jessica Berriman and her hubby-to-be Bruce Coane have created a solution to make prepping for weddings a lot easier. “We want our brides to be able to focus on other wedding details and ultimately, have a fulfilling wedding day. Their goals are our goals and we want each one to be conquered as smoothly as possible. When the fitting room fights are removed, the bridal party can more easily work together and accomplish these goals.” Introducing Get The Gown!
KA – How did you become involved with Get The Gown? What inspired you to start this business?
JB – The founders of Get The Gown are getting married and as a bride-to-be, I couldn’t make sense of purchasing a designer dress that I was only going to wear once! I also didn’t want to waste time traveling around town to find my perfect dress and deal with cleaning the dress afterwards, not to mention finding a corner of a closet to store the dress “until death do us part.” I started searching online for a place to rent my dream gown, but couldn’t find anything. I knew that if men were able to rent their tuxedos for their special day, then I should be able to rent my dream gown for mine! After speaking to many of my friends, both recently engaged and married, I found this to be a great idea and Get The Gown was born.
KA – What are some of the benefits of renting wedding dresses, as opposed to buying them?
JB – Many women figure they will hang their gown in the closet and let it wait for their daughter without taking restoration into account. Maintenance is costly and timely. Additionally, as fashion is constantly changing, holding onto your wedding dress is becoming more and more of an inconvenience. Most women are not saving their dresses for their daughters because they know styles and silhouettes will be varying.
If cash and time are two things you don’t have to spare, renting is a fabulous option. Destination weddings and surprise weddings find many women clueless on where to start and how to transport the wedding dress. Get The Gown lays out many different options. At the tips of your fingers, you can find a whole variety of styles and sizes. When shopping in bridal stores and boutiques, it is often challenging to only hear your opinion.
Brides-to-be can shop for their dream designer gowns at their convenience, when they have time and with whomever they like. They can try these dresses on from the comfort of their own homes, and not have to worry about gown upkeep (i.e. cleaning, preserving, and storing), all for a fraction of the retail cost.
KA – What do your brides love most about Get The Gown?
JB – When asked, “Who are you wearing?” our brides are able to gloat and name drop, and let’s face it: we secretly love to do this! Furthermore, they feel confident that they look and feel their absolute best. We give brides from varying economic classes the chance to fulfill their wedding dreams.
KA – How do you want your customers to feel on their special days?
We want our customers to feel like the gown they’re renting is theirs. In offering on-call stylists, the bride may personalize her look if she chooses. Get The Gown also offers try-on options so brides don’t have to commit to ordering a rental. We want our brides to be 100% confident and satisfied with their decisions. Get The Gown allows temporary alterations upon written request if the bride is not completely satisfied with the fit. We want her feeling how every celebrity feels walking the red carpet in exclusive fashion. Get The Gown was founded on the principle of providing a rare combination of quality and convenience modernized for the 21st century bride.
