Humans are a peculiar species with so many different emotions that I think a new feeling is discovered everyday. Combine the two, emotions and relationships, and there are sometimes big problems on people’s hands. The funny thing is that, although relationships are not easy and take a bit of give and take, they are totally worth it. When you love someone you find purpose in your life.
This Mindful Monday post goes out to youngin’s who are just starting to date and to the wise elders of this world. Someone once said, “Not one human being on this earth is pure and perfect. If we avoid or leave people for their little mistakes, we will always be alone”-Anon. So would it not be easier to judge less and love a whole lot more?
Now there is another side to relationships that should be discussed more openly. I see too many adults and teenagers staying with people who do more harm than good to them. Fights happen. It is normal to disagree and argue over things, but hitting or verbally abusing someone is not okay. Another quote that I believe applies here is, “When we stop chasing the wrong things, you give the right things a chance to find you”-Anonymous.
Love is not an easy road, but it sure is a fun and fulfilling way to live when you go down the right one. Give your trust to someone who will use it kindly. Find someone that makes you laugh and smile. Most importantly, find someone who will be there for you at your worst times. I hope if you have this type of person in your life, you do not take advantage of them. After you have loved and lost do not be afraid to love again, even if you feel like giving up on it. That is when the right person usually comes along. I know from my parents’ experience that it works!
Everyone is different and I can honestly say I do not know what a perfect relationship is. In my opinion, they do not exist. However, I do believe every person in this world has someone out there that is right for him or her. Who is that person that makes you feel safe, loved and able to conquer the world? Find them by opening your heart and treating them with the same respect you want in return. The right person will come along when you learn to love yourself, and then it will be the perfect relationship for YOU.
My Advice: Your soul mate could be a random stranger you meet or a long time friend since kindergarten. Find role models that have a good solid relationship and ask them how they do it. Knowledge is power.
Now go out there and spread your… love.
