In This Post: Shaun and I are sharing cozy moments with Mododoc from our recent Hershey, PA.

When I look back, this was quite a long day for us on our Hershey getaway! We got up early for a delicious breakfast, explored the grounds of The Inn at Westwynd Farm (and did lots of photo taking), went to Chocolate World, and then explored some of the little towns around Hershey. Shaun and I both value our time at home relaxing, so it’s rare that we can fill a day with that much stuff and not feel exhausted at the end (even if we’re excited to be traveling and exploring new places). So, what was it that gave us that kind of stamina?
I’m not going to contribute it ALL to our outfits, but I do think they played a major part, especially because I was so, so excited to show off this unique open cardigan from Mododoc.
My cold weather uniform is literally yoga leggings, oversized sweaters, and boots (remember this look?). As you Gems know, I don’t love the cold or this time of year so I like to avoid extra thinking when I’m trying to get out of the door. However, this is a basic uniform that can easily turn sloppy. Sometimes, if I throw on just any pair of leggings or sweater I have laying around, I catch myself feeling lackluster about my appearance later on. It’s simple details, like the waffle cut texture and corduroy detailing of this cardigan, that give a look like this a more refined feel. The boxy sweater I’m wearing underneath also accomplishes that effortless but elegant feel with the delicate stripes and banded hems.
The experience is in the details. Shaun and I could have easily found a clean, budget friendly chain hotel, but we wanted something more, which is why we were so excited to book our stay at The Inn at Westwynd Farm. All the details about the inn (which we can’t wait to share with you very soon) are the difference between “somewhere to sleep” and “a relaxing getaway”. Just like the small, intentional details on Mododoc’s clothes took my look from “just throwing on something comfortable” to “being cozy and feeling confident”.
As we were walking around the landscape at the farm, attempting (and basically failing) at making friends with the horses, and, dare I say, enjoying the crisp air, I felt filled with so much life. Oh, and we also shot what Shaun calls, “the cover of my country hip hop album” (as seen on Instagram)… hahaha, just kidding. We’ll leave the music up to him ;).

His Look: White “Venice” Long Sleeve Crew and “Point Sal” Zip Hoodie from Mododoc [sp] // similar jeans from Express // BRAYLEN glasses from Public Sunglasses [sp] // Director Watch from Escape Watches (also seen here) [c/o] // Colin High Top Sneaker from UGG
I love dressing down. To the point that what I’m wearing would most likely be frowned upon by most of society. But hey, it’s not my fault that most of the comfy clothes aren’t designed to be diverse enough to pass for most occasions! Which brings me to a dilemma that I very easily could have run into if it wasn’t for the Mododoc clothes and Public Sunglasses I had with me during our getaway in Hershey.
Even though they literally made us feel right at home, there was still part of me that felt like it would be inappropriate to waltz around in my ‘whatever is warm and comfy’ look while we were at The Inn at Westwynd Farm. Now, I knew that I would have to look presentable at some point because we were going to be taking photos and exploring the areas of Hershey that surrounded the inn, but while we were just exploring the property (inside and outside), I just wanted to feel warm and comfortable. As it turns out, I didn’t even have to change my outfit for any of the aforementioned activities. The “Venice” Long Sleeve Crew and “Point Sal” Zip Hoodie that I had from Mododoc made me feel prepared, appropriate, warm, and comfortable for the entire day. They both had that loose-but-not-too-loose fit that gave me optimal maneuverability, while still maintaining an elegant look that gave me the confidence to walk around the inn or explore downtown Hershey. To top off the outfit, the BRAYLEN sunglasses I wore from Public Sunglasses made me feel both cool and sophisticated. The gorgeous, handcrafted wooden frame gives them a classy feel, while the reflective, blue lenses give them just enough edge to make them stand out while not seeming like too much.
Now, I don’t like the cold. It makes me not want to go outside at all. However, I didn’t mind it on this day. As Allyn mentioned, it probably wasn’t entirely because of our outfits, but they most certainly played a major role. There’s something to be said for a comfortable outfit that doesn’t make you feel like you have to stay confined to your couch and bed all day. For me, this outfit gave me the motivation to tackle the day (and the crisp air) because I knew I could take with me that same warm, cozy feeling that the bed and couch provide.
