The Look: Similar Pleated Maxi Skirt | Swing Tank (similar here)

I’m going to be honest, this is the first pleated maxi skirt that I have owned! I didn’t even know I needed it in my life until I was walking past a boutique in Richmond, Virginia and it LITERALLY spoke to me. It was in the window and looking at it immediately made me happy. The vibrant fuschia and citrusy shades of summer were initially what caught my eye, but the elegant silhouette and comfortable fit are what led me to make the purchase! I’ve always admired how a pleated maxi skirt has the same effortless feel as a maxi dress but the pleats lend an elevated look that adds an extra touch of glam.

A few days later, I wore this look while walking around Charleston and I have never gotten more compliments on an outfit in person in my life, which made me feel amazing about life! Since I bought it at fab’rik boutique, I don’t have the exact one to link for you, but here are some similar options! This one is the most identical option!

Another argument for adding a pleated maxi skirt to your wardrobe is that they are extremely versatile. A lace-trimmed top, elegant halter (I love this blush silk halter as an option, too!), or statement one-shoulder top can turn a pleated maxi skirt into a whimsical wedding guest outfit while a loose tee, oversized sweater, or basic swing tank provide an easy, but elevated, everyday look. You can even add a graphic tee and leather jacket to bring out your inner rocker chic.

If pops of pink and citrus colors aren’t your thing, here are a few more gorgeous pleated maxi skirts to choose from

And here are the different types of tops you can effortlessly pair with your new pleated maxi skirt!

I’m confident you have at least one of these options in your closet already. Try it:

With a basic cami

Like I did in this look featured in this post!

With a silk or satin top

The contrast between the pleats and a fabric with a touch of shine will make the look even more luxurious.

With a simple tee

The most effortless way to style a pleated maxi skirt. When in doubt, tuck it in!

With a denim jacket or blazer

With something simple underneath like one of the camis or basic tees we already talked about!

With a tie front top

Generally, pleated maxi skirts have a higher waist. When you’re styling a pleated maxi skirt with a top that you aren’t tucking in, the trick is to pick a top that is still going to accentuate your waistline.

With a crop top

I almost bought a white crop top like this to go with my skirt so that I had another top to pair it with! If you’re looking for inspiration on the crop look, see from Joëlle of La Petite Noob.

With a wrap top

I love love love a wrap top because it reminds me of sweaters I wore during my ballet days. Look how elegant Kim from Lace & Locks looks in this outfit!

With an oversized sweater

Adding an oversized sweater is a great way to repurpose your favorite pleated maxi skirt for the colder months! Kendall from Styled Snapshots looks darling in this neutral look with her white skirt.

With a bodysuit

I know, I know bodysuits sound scary and bring back memories of rehearsals for your first dance recital, but the great thing about them is that they stay in place! There’s no need to worry about if everything is situated properly and praying that your look is still intact every time you go from sitting to standing. In fact, the right bodysuit, like this ruched v-neck, can look like just like you’re wearing an effortlessly tucked in t-shirt. Look at how stunning
