I know it seems like summer just started (and it’s not even officially summer yet!). However, the retail world is doing some end-of-spring cleaning in preparation for fall fashion. This means right now is a great time to buy some of the most versatile, must-have style items. I’m on a budget, so I do lots of clearance shopping. Rather than seeking out pieces that are so last season, I look for sale finds that I’m going to be able to wear over and over every year and in multiple times of year.

A few days ago, I walked out of Target – the best place on earth – with 4 of my favorite sale finds ever. I took home a lovely white blouse for $7.48 (pictured above), a charming blue and white striped skirt for $16.06, an olive military jacket for $8.38, and this breezy button down for $13.98 that I already can’t stop wearing for $13.98 (seriously, I wore it 2 days in a row this week).
In this week’s YouTube video, I’m showing you these pieces in more detail and sharing what I plan to style each of these with! The best news for you is, these are items you can find on clearance at most fashion retailers right now! Scroll down to after the video and you’ll find similar steals you can grab online right now.
At the time I’m writing this, all of these items are on sale, so they won’t be available for long. Don’t wait to add them to your closet!
White Blouses and Tanks
Everyone can always use a new white shirt like the textured asymmetrical blouse (plus size version here) I grabbed for $7.48! Classic and versatile, retailers always make sure they have a number of white pieces available for shoppers. This also means you can almost always find these in the clearance section no matter what time of year it is. So, if you need a white shirt, check the sale rack first!
Midi Skirts
Midi skirts like the blue striped one (plus size version here) I found were huge this spring, especially with 2 piece outfit sets popping up left and right. Midis are so cute and flattering that they completely deserve to stick around in your summer wardrobe. A skirt that feels more spring can easily be turned into a summer look by pairing it with a brighter/bolder color shirt on top, or mixing it with a different print for a more fun, playful look.
Lightweight Jackets
I love a rugged piece like this to pair with the softness of summer prints and silhouettes – especially when it cools down in the evening. I snagged my olive military jacket (plus size version here) for under $8 at the Target near me. It’s not on sale online yet, but since it was on clearance in the store, I bet you’ll see the price drop soon. Keep an eye out!
Long Sleeve Button-Downs
I know. It doesn’t seem like we should be talking about long sleeves. But, don’t forget how cold every restaurant likes to keep their AC in the summer! Those lightweight long sleeve shirts can certainly come in handy, and I’ve been living in the one I just got (there are a few sizes left online and it comes in 2 colors!). You’ll often find me tying a long sleeve button-down around my waist so that I can put it on when I walk indoors, or pairing them with shorts (sort of like what I did with the blush shirt in this post) if I’m going somewhere where I don’t want to show as much skin.
