You may be thinking, “Why all the jewel tones, Allyn?” It all started a few years ago when I was trying to figure out what kind of logo I wanted for my former public relations company. When the designer I was working with at the time suggested a diamond in a deep plum color, I knew that was it! Gems beautifully symbolize everything I’m about – using your struggle to shine even brighter. And, the colors gems come in are just so rich, beautiful, and relatable. It wasn’t long before I started incorporating gem things and jewel tones into every area of my life!
One of the reasons I love dressing in jewel tones is because they work so beautifully together! I have had this plum coat since literally high school and it might just be my favorite thing to whip out this time of year. Unexpectedly, I got it from Old Navy all those years ago and it’s held up great… I kid you not, I wear it a lot every winter. A plum coat like this can be worn with so many colors! Here (this outfit is from our trip to the Christmas Tree Farm), I’ve paired it with a simple olive green long sleeve shirt (like this or this), but a medium to deep plum like this would also look beautiful with other colors of the season like navy (like this dress), red, blush, and even black! This coat isn’t available anymore, but I’ve picked a few similar options for you below.
I’m also pleasantly surprised with how well the jewelry I have from 7 Charming Sisters holds up. I’ve been partnering with the brand for about a year now and own quite a few pieces. I was a little skeptical of how well it would last at first because their price points are literally almost too good to be true. This layered gold chain necklace is only $37 and the rose gold plated earrings I have on are $27. But, I’ve worn everything I have regularly just because I love the styles and I’ve only had one piece break (and that was my own fault because I threw a necklace in my backpack haphazardly when traveling one time and broke it trying to untangle it).
The moral of the story is, you need to invest in a purple coat, and you deserve a few pieces of 7 Charming Sisters jewelry!
