Linen Clothes for Cool Summer Outfits

In less than a week, I'll be headed on the biggest road trip I've ever gone on! I have stops planning in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia to figure out where I want to move to (more on that there). With the trip coming up and the eventual move to a more southern state, I have been adding more linen pieces to my closet recently that I'm certain will make up my go-to outfits in the heat.

In This Post: With hollow fibers and natural moisture-wicking abilities, linen clothes are the ideal pieces to be adding to your wardrobe to stay cool this season. From linen dresses to striped rompers and effortless paperbag shorts, you’ll love these summer outfit staples.

Why I’ve Been Loving Linen Clothes

In less than a week, I’ll be headed on the biggest road trip I’ve ever gone on! I have stops planned in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia to figure out where I want to move to (more on that there). With the trip coming up and the eventual move to a more southern state, I have been adding more linen pieces to my closet recently that I’m certain will make up my go-to looks in the heat and humidity.

Be sure to hang out with me on Instagram to stay updated with my moving journey! In the meantime though, I have really been enjoying the photography opportunities my network in Pittsburgh has brought my way. With so many sessions on my calendar coming up, I have been exploring more new-to-me spots for photos! These were taken on Washington & Jefferson College’s beautiful campus and even though I had photographed a session there in the past, I was excited to be the one in front of the camera this time! The historic charm and rich details lent the perfect background for this striped linen maxi dress.

Linen is my favorite fabric to wear in the summer especially because I love thicker, more structured fabrics – they don’t cling to you in all the wrong places! The hollow fibers in linen naturally move air and moisture through them so even though the fabric is crisp and strong, it’s airy and the perfect choice for staying cool in hot weather. While it can be pricer, linen is very durable and strong so you can trust that when you buy linen pieces, you’ll wear them year after year, which is why I opt for timeless pieces like this Fifteen Twenty maxi dress.

From dinner on your favorite restaurant’s patio to strolling on the beach and exploring new places this season, you can’t go wrong with adding a dress like this to your closet! It’s lined, 100% linen, has adjustable straps, and is effortless to wear.

For the most longevity, consider adding neutral color linen clothes to your closet since you’ll get literally years of outfits out of them. That way, you can always pair them with the on-trend colors and styles of the season. While the fabric can seem a little stiff at first, linen clothes only get better with time. The more you wear them, the more soft and supple they will become!
