In This Post: Macaron Bar in East Liberty Pittsburgh is an entire bakery dedicated to macarons! You can even order macarons online for delivery to you!
I still dream about the sweet treats from my trip to France back in January. What I wouldn’t give for a buttery, flakey chocolate croissant from a little bakery on quaint Paris street! Unfortunately, those dreams are unlikely to come true anytime soon. However, back in March, I was glad to discover a little corner of French confections here in Pittsburgh at Macaron Bar in East Liberty! It was an especially enjoyable afternoon since two of my favorite people came along – my friend Alex (she took these photos!), and my niece.

About Macaron Bar Pittsburgh
Macaron Bar is a bakery entirely dedicated to French macarons (and they’re all gluten free!). Having a sole purpose must have really helped this bakery hone in on their craft because these macarons were incredible. They had that delicate, not-too-sweet flavor that macarons are known for while featuring the crisp but chewy, hard to describe texture you’re only familiar with if you’ve bitten into a great macaron. Oh my gosh, I want one so bad just writing about them, haha! Macaron Bar’s Executive Chef (who is also an owner) completed a macarons master program at Ecole Lenôtre in France. That means you can trust that these macarons won’t let you down. You can even take a class yourself at Macaron Bar if exploring the art of how to make macarons is on your bucket list.
Delicious Macarons in Pittsburgh
Glistening in the abundance of natural light that fills the bakery, there were so many flavors to pick from. I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite if I had to. I especially loved the birthday cake, red velvet, black raspberry chocolate, salted caramel, and chocolate strawberry. We had so much fun trying the different flavors! The cheerful decor and colorful accents made this space somewhere we wanted to linger. I think that is always a sign of a strong brick and mortar business! It’s also worth noting that the entire bakery was spotless. Plus, the owners were so friendly in my emails with them and Mollie, the baker who was at Macaron Bar when we stopped in, was so kind and helpful. I look forward to many outings back to Macaron Bar in the future (once we’re allowed to leave the house again).
