Madewell Perfect Vintage Jean Review

My Madewell Perfect Vintage Jean Review! These flattering jeans feature the Rosabelle wash, comfort stretch, a cropped straight leg & super high rise waist. | Photos taken at Red Barn Inn

Every year I get caught up in the excitement of updating my wardrobe for fall. I tend to add a few pairs of jeans only for them to end up unworn and collecting dust in my closet. I’ve often wondered if I’m just not a “jeans” person. That was until I met the Perfect Vintage Jeans from Madewell.

Meet the Perfect Vintage Jean from Madewell

I was able to score a pair of Madewell vintage jeans on sale for $95, but that’s still more than I’ve ever spent on a pair of jeans in my life. Let me tell you, they were so worth it! I never have any luck with vintage or vintage-inspired jeans because of my hips and muscular thighs, so these are a true game-changer for my wardrobe. I love the extra high waist (with an 11″ high rise). I love the slight touches of distressing including the raw hem. I LOVE the length (the inseam is 26.5″) which has finally given this 5’5″ gal a pair of cropped jeans that actually fall in the right spot. I seriously love everything about these Madewell jeans. Oh, and they make my bum look fantastic!

Tall and petite sizes available

In these photos, I’m wearing the regular length inseam in the Rosabelle wash Perfect Vintage Jeans. If you’re 5’4″ and below, Madewell recommends their petite inseam and the tall inseam for 5’9″-5’11”.

How do these Madewell jeans fit?

In the website title/description, this pair made of Madewell Perfect Vintage Jeans mentions having a touch of stretch and it truly is just a touch. For reference, the fabric tag on mine says “99% cotton/1% elastane”. There is a tiny bit of give, but they are not stretchy jeans by any means. However, the fit is SO good that they’re still incredibly comfortable even with the sturdy fabric. They hold me in in all the right places. I’ve never met a pair of structured jeans that didn’t cut off my circulation, but Madewell has achieved the impossible with their denim magic.

These ones are the only pair of their Perfect Vintage Jeans that specifically mention “comfort stretch”. However, I’d assume that any of the Perfect Vintage Jeans styles with the 99% cotton/1% elastane (which you can find in the description) have a similar fit. While the ones that have 100% cotton listed like the Duncannon wash and Cormie wash do not have that touch of give to them. Madewell’s Perfect Vintage Jeans do come in a “Curvy” version as well.

I’ve only owned stretchy denim in the past since I thought it aligned with my love of comfort and yoga pants, but honestly, these are far more flattering than any jeans I’ve ever owned. And, I’m in love with the fact that sans stretch, they stay put and don’t fall down.

A note on sizing

I’m normally a 2 or 4 in most things. Originally, I tried on the 27 which were just a bit too big. I ended up going with the 26 even though they were a bit tight initially. They have gotten a little more flexible with wear (without stretching out) and are now even more perfect now that they are a bit broken in.

Where to by the Perfect Vintage Jean in Rosabelle Wash

The exact pair I’m wearing is available at directly at Madewell as well as Shopbop, Zappos, and Nordstrom.

I’m wearing the Perfect Vintage Jean in Rosabelle wash which is a light to medium blue color, but Madewell offers the Perfect Vintage Jeans in a number of other colors and washes as well like the best selling Enmore wash which is just a touch darker and of course there’s the perfect vintage jean in Fitzgerald wash which is super light and well-loved. Or, opt for vintage wash jeans with the Swinton wash.

In summary, I’m over the moon about these. I never thought I’d be wearing a “mom jean” and these make me feel so cool, haha. Not convinced yet? Just scroll down to the reviews on the Madewell page, everyone is obsessed! This is my first pair of jeans from this brand, but I look forward to doing more Madewell reviews in the future!
