The line curved all the way down the hallway of the Prince George Ballroom and nearly went out into the street. As I stood towards the back of the line, anxiously charging my phone (#PRGirl), I wondered what was to come- I’d never heard of this up and coming designer! Finally, the crowd poured into an ornate ballroom blasting with energizing music.
The lights dimmed, and the show began.
Kithe Brewster takes classic looks and puts a soft edge on them. He relies on sophisticated styles and colors- models walked the runway in an array of classic colors such as navy, red, white and black. The only deviation from this was a signature pink and black tie-die pattern featured on dresses.
Silk gowns were a significant part of the show. Models drifted down in flowy gowns and stiletto heels, which was all too fitting considering the setting. These feminine designs were punctuated by added details such as one-shoulder oversized bows and flowers, slits and deep v-necks, and lots of layers and volume. In addition to silk, there were other materials such as lace and sheer organza overlays that gave a glimpse of skin. Aside from the gowns, there were other designs such as leather shorts paired with silky tops, bustier tops, and chic jackets with details such as zippers and folds.
The makeup at Kithe Brewster was very dramatic. Models had bold, smoky eyes paired with a pop of red on the lips! Hair was slicked back and curved gracefully into the nape of the neck.
I loved Kithe Brewster’s bold and feminine collection. His designs are made for the confident woman who aspires to channel Old Hollywood Glamour with a modern vibe.
What a graceful yet exciting way to end NYFW! =)
