The power of the monochrome outfit aesthetic
I find myself pinning an endless amount of monochrome outfit ideas on Pinterest simply because I can’t get enough of the elegant, sophisticated look. Pairing pieces of all one color pulls even the most casual outfits (like this green joggers outfit) together in a well-styled way. I love the monochrome look even more when the pieces are slightly different shades of the same color. It makes the outfit a little less perfect in the chicest of ways. Keep reading for all the details of my monochrome burgundy outfit that I pulled together a few weeks ago during my getaway to Granville Inn.
The Look: Levi’s Wedgie Fit Straight Corduroy Pants (similar here, beige version here) | Stitch Fix top
A tonal burgundy outfit for fall
In this outfit, I paired Wedgie Fit straight corduroy pants from Levi’s with a fitted burgundy top (dressier burgundy blouse option) and completed the outfit with a pair of blush loafers. The burgundy corduroy pants (similar option here) offer a classic fall look while the square neck and bubble sleeves of the Stitch Fix top add a touch of trend (click here to get $25 to spend at Stitch Fix!). I love styling burgundy and maroon clothes because they’re so versatile. Rich red colors are so easy to pair with lighter clothes (like beige and blush) or darker colors like (black and brown) to really embrace the feel of the current season. Plus, you can’t go wrong with burgundy top outfits because it’s a color that looks great on a variety of different skin tones.
Winter burgundy monochrome outfit idea
Originally, I created this as an early fall outfit, but you can easily turn this into a burgundy winter outfit (that would also be perfect for holiday activities!) by swapping the top for a deep red sweater with similar balloon sleeves and changing the loafers for a pair of ankle boots! With a cropped leg pant silhouette, I recommend an ankle boot with a shaft that’s a few inches higher (like the black pair in this outfit) as opposed to a shorter ankle boot. Plus, this gives a full coverage look for chilly days rather than leaving some skin at the bottom. Here are some similar choices to consider when creating burgundy sweater outfits:
