We’ve officially made our first big home purchase – a soft plush living room area rug that we’re in love with!
It’s hard to believe that we’ve officially been homeowners for 3 weeks. We’re starting to get settled but are taking a slow, unrushed approach to the process of picking furniture and decor. We want to make it a priority to find pieces we truly love that add to the aesthetic we’re envisioning for our home. It’s certainly hard waiting to find the right pieces that speak to us, especially since we’re still very much on a budget, but I know having patience is going to pay off in the long run.

From the Dynamic Rugs Reverie Collection
Our most exciting and biggest purchase so far is this gorgeous and comfortable area rug from Dynamic Rugs from their Reverie Collection that we have in our living room. After our tiny courthouse wedding last month, we spent the rest of the day shopping for items for the house. We were at HomeGoods with no particular goal when we were both drawn to this rug. Not only did it feature the colors we had already talked about integrating into the room (blues, grey, and white), but we also fell in love with its luxuriously cozy texture. Currently, there’s a smaller version available on Amazon, a few options on the Houzz website, and a variety of sizes on Payless Rugs.
Hesitant to splurge on something that didn’t seem urgently necessary, we pulled out our iPhones to do some research on the brand. Once we realized how great of a deal the price was and that Dynamic Rugs seemed to have plenty of positives reviews, we decided to go for it. We saved over $200 by finding this at HomeGoods! While I do gravitate towards clean lines and a refined look, I do want the room to have elements in it that fall on the cozier side, too. This cool-toned, plush pile carpet fit right into my vision! Plus, it comes in a variety of sizes in case we want to add a smaller vision anywhere else in the house.
One concern we had was that a plush rug like this would shed. We’ve only had a for a little over a week but we’ve been sitting on it all the time and none of the fibers have come off. And by sitting on it all the time, I truly mean all the time. Seating wise, all we have in the living room right now are two folding bag chairs (hahaha). So, we’re sitting on this when we play with our niece, laying on it to watch movies, etc. and it really is so comfy.
