In This Post: Just a short drive from Washington, DC, I spent the day wearing a special Gal Meets Glam Collection dress at Burnside Farms in Nokesville, Virginia – where you can pick your own tulips!

A few weeks ago, I shared with you why this pretty pink gingham dress just means the world to me and today, I want to share with you more on the gorgeous place I wore it to!
Back in March, Facebook served me an article mid-scroll that said, “The Dreamy Tulip Farm in Virginia You’ll Want to Visit This Spring”. Of course, I fell in love with the photos of endless red, pink, yellow, and white flowers. I was even more excited when it realized it was another about an hour away from a friend in my that lives near DC, Natalie, who I had been wanting to visit.
I’m terrible at suggesting plans and then never following through on coordinating them, thus I could not be happier that this time was different! Even though I had just started my new part-time job earlier that week and there were so many things on my to-do list, I decided there was nothing I could use more than a few days away, some breathtaking blooms, and adventures with a dear friend.
Thank you, Natalie, for also being supportive of my dreams and for being more than willing to take these photos! You’re the best! <3
It’s been a while since I felt any kind of life’s magic – or perhaps it’s just been a while since I’ve let it in. This day, however, was nothing shower of magical. After a much-needed yoga class at UP in Silver Spring and a few hours of getting work out of the way, Natalie and I headed down to Burnside Farms hoping to catch the warm glow of Golden Hour for photos. My excitement grew and grew when we drove up and saw the immeasurable amount of vibrant tulips. More than a million tulips and daffodils are in bloom for 3-4 weeks in April for their Festival of Spring.
If you’ve always dreamed of taking a trip to the tulip fields in Holland, this might be a much easy experience to get to! If you feel inclined, they even have more than 100 pairs of authentic dutch wooden shoes to “klomp” around in and a lovely picnic area. You can truly make a whole day out of going!
Even though I was tempted to pick the ones that are open because they’re so so pretty, I opted for ones that were closed hoping with my entire heart they’d have a better chance of surviving the 5-hour drive back to Pittsburgh. Luck was on my side and they lasted almost an entire week at home!
During their Summer festival (mid-July through Labor Day), you can pick sunflowers at Burnside Farms. I hope I can make it back for another trip!
