REVIEW: Root Mineral Makeup

The fight for the perfect foundation is officially over!

Every time I go makeup shopping, I buy a different foundation because in the 12 or so years that I’ve been using makeup, I have yet to find a foundation that I love…until now.

Well, I can officially say so-long to the search. A few weeks ago, I was shipped samples of Root Mineral Makeup to try out – the Pearl Powder Mineral Foundation, the Bronze Powder, and a Kabuki Brush to be exact. I was so surprised by the results!

Some background on my skin to start: My skin and I, we have a love hate relationship. I am very lucky in the sense that my skin in fairly even and I hardly ever breakout. On the other hand, my skin is very sensitive and always dehydrated. I always have a reddish undertone to my face that I hate. Plus, since my skin is very dry (even with use of intense moisturizers), when wearing liquid foundation, I find that as the day goes on, the makeup sinks into my face and makes it look like I have wrinkles! Yuck. I’m only 23. With traditional powder, I hate that caked look.

I don’t like the feel of anything on my face, so I typically can’t stand how foundation feels. I usually leave the house without any face makeup on unless I’m not going to a photoshoot or fashion show and even then, the first thing I do as soon as it’s over is wipe off my face.

So, I am so excited to say that I have finally found a wonderful foundation! Root makeup solved not one, but ALL of these problems. I’ll actually be placing an order right ofter this post goes up.

Brace yourself, I’m about to show you a before picture and I have on absolutely no makeup:

And here’s after!

No lines, no redness, and it literally feels like I have on nothing. I could leave this on my face forever. Plus, the Bronze Mineral Powder added the perfect amount of glow without overdoing it.

Here’s another photo from last week on the very first day I tried Root. I applied the Pearl Powder Foundation and Bronze Mineral Powder at 10 in the morning before a photo shoot, worked throughout the day, then attended the Pittsburgh Social Exchange holiday party at night. I loved that I didn’t have to retouch my face makeup one time. To maximize flawless application, I used Root‘s vegan and allergen free Kabuki Brush, which is amazing as well!

The Root makeup formula consists of just 4 minerals and the products are made without any fillers often found in other brands (so it’s very sensitive skin friendly). The foundation is a 2-in-1 solution that can be used in its original powder form or used wet for a full coverage and concealer (I did this for the big circles under my eyes!).

Not sure which Root shade is for you? Grab a $2 sample and find the right color before buying the full sized product. My tiny samples lasted a whole week!
