Most people live their lives with a specific routine and others live in a state of misery. Your brain tells you to feel pity for yourself, but I do not believe the heart wants you to stay there. You can go from feeling on top of the world one minute to saying “Why me?” the next. In my opinion this is completely normal. We need to feel miserable, angry and sad. In fact, these feelings teach us how to feel the joy of feeling happy, loved and grateful. Happiness would not exist if no one knew what it felt like to be miserable.

- Why do you feel this way?
- Is what you are going through life changing?
- What steps can I take to get through this?
- What can I do to change the headspace I am in?
We all have days that we would rather Netflix and chill then go outside and breathe in the fresh air, but hypothetically speaking, do you really want to live your life hibernating like bear? Plus, we all know misery loves company. Have you ever noticed that when you are in a bad mood other people join you or try to get away from you? Other people can feel the energy we release because we are human and connected to one another. If you have a serious mental issue, then please know there are ways to get the support you need and people out there that want to help. But if you are putting yourself in a miserable state, then I believe you can find a way to get yourself out, even if that includes the help of other people.
A wise coffee cup once read, “Britney survived 2007. You can survive today”. So learn to embrace the miserable side of yourself because that is a part of you. Accept it, but do not live there. Acknowledge it and realize that feeling is just your perception of the situation and you have the power to change how you react. Then, take some deep breaths and exhale out the negativity. Show yourself that you can get through tough times, relax in the mundane and routine, and breathe in for the joyful times. Show yourself what a life of gratefulness looks like. Because this is life. It can be crazy, beautiful, frustrating, tragic and funny all at one time.
Just know that no matter what life brings you, everything will be okay in the end.
