My Spanx Faux Leather Leggings Review
I’m just going to say it. These leather-like leggings are my new favorite thing.
I mean how can they not be? Spanx faux leather leggings (they are 20% off right now!) have a unique texture, extraordinary stretch, and an ultra-flattering look that quite literally makes me want to reach for them every single day. Not to mention they are incredibly comfortable. I also love the waistline on these. The high rise and thicker band hug my curves just right and keep these in place. Plus, the texture brings a really cool contrast to any outfit. They truly do live up to the hype in every way as long as you know what to expect before purchasing! Keep reading for more details.
So, are Spanx faux leather leggings worth it?
1,000%. These unique black leggings are so chic and so comfortable – my favorite combination. I’m already plotting my next pair. There are a few colors on sale and I cannot wait to add another colorway to my wardrobe because I’m wearing this pair too often! Maybe the burgundy or the navy?! All the color choices are beautiful! There’s an edgier moto version, too.
What I wish I would have known before buying
It’s important to know about the fabric
The fabric is thinner than I thought but not in a bad way. On other people and in blog posts I read before buying, these looked like they’d be rather thick because of the texture, and in my mind “faux leather” sounds like it would be a thicker fabric, right? Well, these are really only “faux leather” when it comes to the look (they have a beautiful sheen to them and a slight crinkle looking texture). Nothing about them feels like faux leather. This made me fall in love with them even more. I like the faux leather look but I’m not all about how faux leather pieces feel and the restriction that often comes with them. Spanx does have a Leather-Like ankle skinny pant for more of a true leather-esque look and feel.
Fabrication breakdown: 87% Nylon, 13% Elastane with Polyurethane Coating. Lining: 80% Polyester, 20% Elastane
Once again, the team at Spanx has proven their ability to design magical pieces.
They have a tight fit
Per usual, I spent a significant amount of time researching this product before making the investment. I’m so glad I did because the majority of Spanx leggings reviews I read did mention these ran small. I usually buy a small in leggings and I’m very glad I sized up and got the medium. The fit is still tight, as I was hoping it would be and they hold everything in very nicely.
Because the stretch technology is so innovative and amazing, these leggings would probably stretch to you no matter what size you are. However, the more you stretch them, the thinner the fabric is going to become. So, going with the small may have resulted in these being a little see-through while I feel like they maintain their integrity on my behind completely with sizing up. This isn’t a quality thing as it’s how all leggings work. In fact, the quality of these is impeccable. The seams are durable and the fabric is quite luxurious.

The length is long
I’m 5’5″, so I’m not tall, but I never buy petite anything. However, the medium does bunch a bit at the ankles on me. For reference, I can easily pull these over my heel and have the hemline end at the arch of my foot. Despite being 5’5″, I will honestly consider a petite version whenever I buy these again especially because many of the reviews on the petite version say they’re still rather long. So, if you’re around my height or shorter, I would strongly consider trying the Spanx faux leather petite length leggings if you don’t like your leggings to go past your ankles. The longer length isn’t a bad thing either because they stay tucked in with boots and they look just fine tucked under at the bottom. Just be sure to take your preferences into consideration!

Can you dress them up or down?
While they are ridiculously versatile, these are definitely more casual leggings. Even with the right pieces to dress them up, they aren’t something that could pass as leggings to wear to work unless you have a super casual workplace. I recommend the Perfect Black Pants from Spanx if you’re looking for the best leggings to wear as pants, even professionally. However, there are an endless amount of possibilities when it comes to creating comfy outfits for a home, casual outfits for running around, cute date night looks, or something chic for a night out.
What about working out in them? While I’ve only worn them casually so far, they’d be totally fine a workout at home or virtual yoga classy. They really are easy to move around in. I love that I can throw them on in the morning and know I’ll look cute regardless of it I’m heading out to dinner or taking my niece for a walk on the trail. I probably wouldn’t wear these for a hot yoga class or higher intensity workout, but that’s just a personal preference.
