As luxurious as wearing yoga pants every day might feel (guilty), it’s time for an upgrade. Of course, the athletic runway trend isn’t anything new, but this season at New York Fashion Week Noon by Noor definitely brought another dimension, adding chic and class, to the trend.
It was athleisure love at first sight when I saw the opening black-and-whit floral variety jacket. I dedicated my childhood and teen years to ballet, so I never played any sports in high school. But with this jacket, I knew I could finally be a cool kid. If there is any part of you that thinks that the sporty trend will be done reigning in upcoming seasons, I hate to break it to you, but you’re wrong…
Typically known for striking prints and intricate embellishments, this season, Noon by Noor opted for a collection more focused on cuts and fabric choices like satin, jacquard, organza and metallic foils. Effortless chic was achieved through relaxed tailoring, voluminous silhouettes, oversized pieces, and soft textures.
After the first few youthful, black and white looks, the continuing color palette was composed mostly of pastels including pale aqua, electric blue, gold, lavender, and peach. Blooming formal patterns were embedded to further strengthen the collection’s feminine twist. Offsetting the young-but-grown-up sporty styles were chunky, blocked heels and masculine brogues. A little sideline sparkle anyone?
Highlighter swept models floated down the runway in drop-waist dresses (something everyone can get behind because the waistline elongates the appearance of your torso, for a tall, figure flattering look), embellished aprons, and relaxed separates including flock-print trousers and a t-shirt jumpsuit.
Despite the laid back, borrowed-from-boys vibe, the design duo couldn’t resist adding a few evening wear looks to the collection. Shortly after a tropical leaf printed shift dress, floral textured tank top, and lavender bubble blossom cape, the runway filled with flowing gold overlays and stunning organza gowns.
With infamous influencers like Alexa Chung and Leigh Lezark sitting front row, it’s likely we’ll be seeing all our favorite “it-girls” flaunting these reworked, iconic pieces when spring rolls back around (winter didn’t even start yet and I’m already ready for it to be over).
