This One’s for the Dogs: WearWoof’s Dress Up Your LBD Event

Charity events always have a special glow; they’re social, elegant & philanthropic. I love attending any event, but charity events are extra special if you’re passionate about the cause. Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend an event for a cause that I am completely obsessed with and passionate about. I attended the WearWoof “Dress Up Your Little Black Dress” Trunk Show!

WearWoof is a charitable animal welfare organization that is joining the fight to end animal homelessness. They partner with 32 different shelters as they raise funds and awareness. As their efforts have changed the lives of many animals throughout the area, they are only continuing to make a difference. The wonderful team at WearWoof raised around $6,000 at this Trunk Show and will be send about half to the beneficiary, Western PA Humane Society! They recently hosted a Trunk Show at their shop in the North Hills in September and after a complete sell out and large donation from InStyle Magazine they realized they could really make a difference with this new event! Taking the show from a small intimate gathering to a larger social event, retail coordinator Shannon Gianoni had the idea to bring local vendors into the mix. Being a small business owner as well, she saw a great opportunity to enhance the experience for the guests and offer exposure for local vendors!

The event was hosted at The Willow Restaurant in the North Hills. The venue had a glowing, cozy chic feel and set the stage for a very stunning event. Throughout the event phenomenal hors d’oeuvres were set out and a special event cocktail was being served. The flow from room to room held more vendors, more surprises and more socializing. There was also the WearWoof table featuring the InStyle Magazine collection, 11 local vendors and 2 direct marketing jewelers! In addition to all of this there were 20 jewelry raffles, 13 traditional raffles and one mystery raffle! **Exciting note – I won the Girly Dog basket presented by the Western PA Humane Society for my dog Sophie! She was thrilled!!**

Nancy Lee, Founder and Executive Director of WearWoof decided to bring sophistication to the event by suggesting the guests wear their LBD! Shannon continued the excitement by suggesting that the guests do not accessorize. After some brainstorming, the idea came full circle. The guests would arrive in their most fabulous LBD, dress up in the vendors’ jewelry and show off their jewels in a live photo shoot! The event was full of glamour, impressive creativity and stylish socializing! It was a complete sell out with 150 guests in attendance.

Don’t worry if you missed this one, when asked about continuing the tradition, Shannon responded, “Yes! We’ll definitely have another “dress up your little black dress” event next year, but we don’t want to wait that long.
