Three Dresses to Add to Your Closet Before Fall Gets Here

In This Post: Three on-trend dresses to add to your wardrobe now that will become staples in your fall outfits when the seasons start to change!

I have never appreciated dresses more than I do right now! This is something I realized that even more this past week on vacation as I juggled a remote part-time job, blogging, photography, and staying stylish all while making sure I was living in the moment as much as possible when we were doing things as a family. There’s so much to do even when I’m out of town which means I need to spend a little time as possible putting myself together because my priorities are spending quality time with my family while keeping a business running.

My sister, a first-time mom with a beautiful baby girl who is now four months old, runs into this need to get ready as efficiently as possible in a different way, which is why you’ll find her in this post as well! She cares much less about fashion than I do, but I can tell that there’s a different energy to her when she’s wearing something that she feels great in. Plus, she would never have signed up to be in these photos if it required her to take more than 10 minutes to get ready, haha.

I’ve long been a fan of the timeless silhouettes and fashionable functionality of the Maggy London dresses, so when I was recently introduced to the brand’s sister line, London Times, I instantly fell in love with the collection of more casual styles at prices that make sense.

One thing that especially stands out to me with both brands, is that they each value dressing women of all shapes and sizes. When you browse the options on the website, you’ll see a variety of waistlines, necklines, skirt lengths, and cuts so that every woman can find something she’ll feel amazing in (you’re always welcome to DM me on Instagram if you need help figuring out what will look best on you!). Since my sister and I have very different builds (and she’s currently styling postpartum curves), I enlisted her help to show off a few seasonally transitional styles that will make for perfect fall outfits from London Times.

Leopard Print

I have to tell you that this is the trend I am most excited about for fall. Leopard print comes around every year, so its appearance for fall certainly isn’t anything new, but I’m seeing brands use these prints in more innovative and creative ways which is what has inspired me to add a leopard print dress to my wardrobe for the first time in forever! I casually styled the Willa dress for a dinner out with my family on vacation – after which we watched the sunset and then got ice cream! Even though I picked this dress for it’s layering possibilities for the coming season (I need to find the perfect denim jacket to wear over it!), the sleeveless design and breezy silhouette kept me cool in the Outer Banks heat. While I don’t have too many meetings or professional occasions I need to dress up for, a black blazer and a pointed-toe pump would certainly turn this dress into a power outfit for the office.

Professional Florals

I’m always a little bummed to send off spring and summer, so I never shy away from continuing to incorporate elements of these seasons into my wardrobe all throughout fall and winter. Workwear can feel stale and repetitive, especially in the cooler months, but the Sandra dress combats that! The soft flowers settled on to a dark background make this dress a great transitional piece and also something that can be styled during any season. The partial lining and quality jersey fabric prevent it from clinging in the wrong places while the faux wrap waist is extra flattering – especially on my sister’s post-baby belly!

A Red Dress

Already have a little black dress in your wardrobe? Then it’s time to go with a statement red dress (or jumpsuit!)! I cannot get enough of red from now until the end of December. Its vibrancy makes me feel like I can continue holding on to the energy of summer hues for a little bit longer. Plus, I feel good about investing in red pieces because I know they will be staples in my fall wardrobe that I can continue wearing throughout the holiday season. Wearing the Lola jumpsuit (also available in black) in its standout cranberry shade over my recent travels made me feel like I could take on anything the day threw my way. Not only is this piece super comfortable, but its workday to weekend transitional capabilities are top-notch! Not to get ahead of myself here, but how cute would this look with a metallic gold clutch and sparkly earrings for those holidays parties that we’ll be styling ourselves for before we know it?!
