When life seems to be nothing but one thing after another, it can be tough to muster up the energy to celebrate anything, but we absolutely have to!
Last week in VLOG 11, I told you I mentioned I have good bit of heavy life stuff going on right now, but this past week, celebrating two things – my birthday and a feel-good business win – reminded me of just how important it is to celebrate something, anything, even when you don’t really feel like it.
My grandma spent last week in the hospital, and when I thought about what I wanted to do on my birthday, the first thought I had was, “eating cake with my family.” I knew my mom was already planning on going to the hospital, so I decided I would bring over my own birthday cake so I could celebrate with my fam. I got it from Dairy Queen, and the flimsy, plastic forks I grabbed required us to put in a lot of effort to eat our cake, hahaha.
Of course it wasn’t the perfect setting for a celebration, but conforming our gathering to the circumstances instead of letting the situation take it away was absolutely worth it. My grandma’s face (I’m not sure if it was me or the cake she was more excited to see), was proof that crappy situations give us more, not less, reason to find something to celebrate.
