A few weeks ago, I had a very terrifying encounter with a fat, hairy spider in my shower. So scary in fact, that the incident has stuck with me and I can’t stop thinking about (and fearing) this thing. Am I scared one of his hairy 8 legged friends will show up to avenge his death? Absolutely. Am I scared next time it happens Shaun might not be home and I’ll have to diffuse the situation by myself? Sure am.
Nonetheless, I’ve still taken showers.
Your dreams are just as essential to your life as your personal hygiene. When scary things come up, you can acknowledge those fears and you can take the extra step to peek under the shower curtain to see if there are any uninvited obstacles you need to get rid of, but you cannot let them stop you from jumping in. Otherwise, you’re going to start stinking like someone who hasn’t showered in their dreams lately and you (along with those around you) are just going to get cranky about it.
Thanks for this reminder about fear, Mr. Scary Spider. I will continue diving into my dreams in your honor. 😉
