I realized something weird yesterday after I had spent hours cleaning out stuff in my basement and office…
You know that feeling when you’re holding something in your hand that you know you have no use for and yet something inside of you says you can’t get rid of it? For me, it was a bunch of $3 plastic snow globes my dad had brought me back from various business trips. I have so many other things to remember him by and yet it was so hard to get rid of these pieces of plastic, even though I knew all they would ever do was take up space in my basement.
I discovered that this feeling very closely resembles how I feel about a lot of stuff mentally, too. Over the years, we’ve formed thoughts, patterns, and emotions about stuff that happened forever ago, and it still takes up a lot of our space because rarely do we have the time to clean out our thoughts. We’ve built up a lot of internal clutter.
So, in this week’s video, I’m explaining one quick and easy thing I do to help me throw away unnecessary junk in my head. What’s even better, is just beginning this visual trick will help get you unstuck by preventing the garbage thoughts from taking over your brain. Try it for yourself and let me know if it helps you!
As with all my mental health related content, this is not medical advice. I’m only sharing what works for me to create discussion, awareness, and empowerment within you. There’s absolutely no shame in seeking professional help!
