Let’s get real: Do you feel like you have to be the best at everything you do? It kind of takes the fun out of some things, doesn’t it?
And in order to achieve success in whatever it is you’re trying to do, do you feel like you have to be the best?
I know I do. Or I did. Or I still do. It all depends on the moment.
For such a long time, I’ve had this idea in my head (and I honestly don’t even know exactly where it came from) that if I wanted to be a “successful” blogger/influencer/business owner/entrepreneur, I had to work my way to the tippy top. This is terrifying because this industry is becoming more saturated by the minute and it’s getting harder and harder to stand out.
Most days, thinking about getting to the top of the pack is daunting. It feels impossible, and imposing that standard on myself only hinders my productivity and doesn’t ignite my hustle.
But what if I don’t need to be the best? What if I could just be a B tier blogger and still make it? Or if I shoot for second (or two hundredth or 2 thousandth) best does that mean I’m setting myself up for failure?
I’m deciding, no, no it doesn’t.
I’m lifting the pressure off. Yes, I will always put my best effort forward, but I’m okay with being second-rate if it leaves more room for happiness and less room for being stressed out of my mind.
