The Look: Gal Meets Glam Collection Dress | Castañer Wedge Espadrilles | Blue Planet Sunglasses

A year ago last April, I sat back as I watched my favorite blogger in the entire world launch the most incredible collection of timeless, classic, and feminine dresses. I have been following Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam since the days when I owned my PR firm and she had just started blogging.

Every single month since then, I’ve anxiously awaited each lookbook – diligently selecting my dream dresses from each month’s selection. I never once added them to my online cart, and I never once saw one arrive in a pale pink box at my doorstep because I’ve been on such a tight budget which left little room for anything other than rent, bills, and my essential daily cup of coffee.

My First Gal Meets Glam Collection Dress

But last month, I added my first Gal Meets Glam Collection dress to my wardrobe. This dress is so so so much more than a pretty outfit to me and it wasn’t about spending money on something. Instead, it’s irrefutable proof that I have created change, that I can take a deep breath. And while my life is stressful and messy (SO messy) things are growing and blooming even when it doesn’t feel like it. Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it does buy clothes that I feel incredible in and a striking outfit can bring me happiness even on my worst days.

With pink gingham checks and a vintage ambiance, I knew it was THE one from the first moment I saw it on Instagram. I am most impressed with the character and quality of the fabric, the swing of the skirt, the POCKETS, and how incredibly flatting the fit is. This dress accentuates my curves in all of the right ways – and none of the wrong ones. It’s the Polly Gal Meets Glam Collection dress (petite version here) and it’s also available at Nordstrom. I’m normally a 4 in dresses but sized down because I read it runs a little big and the 2 is perfect!

Does anyone want to meet up for a picnic? Because I cannot think of a more perfect occasion to wear this dress for! I’ll also be wearing it for backyard gatherings, lunch dates with friends, and any days that I want a less ordinary outfit for. The pieces, like this dress, that stay in my closet forever are items that not only make me feel the most confident, but also are attached to a happy memory, too.

It’s also such a special dress because I bought it just in time to pick tulips recently at Burnside Farms with a great friend (more on this magical place coming so soon!). Picking up to head to DC (this tulip field was about an hour away from there) for a few days would not have been something I was able to do a few months ago. I’m so proud that my hard work is paying off and my life is shifting in the ways I’ve always dreamed of – I’ve been hoping to start making traveling more of a priority! PS – Thanks for having me, Natalie – and for taking all my photos! <3

Here are a few more of my GMG favorites for Spring and Summer (mark your calendars for  May 14th – TOMORROW – when the next collection arrives!):

Thank you, Julia Engel for teaching me the importance of stopping to smell the flowers. And thank you Gal Meets Glam Collection for allowing me to set my eyes on something I could get really excited about. Sometimes the only thing that got me through recent long days working multiple jobs was knowing that I would allow myself to buy a GMG dress SO soon. And now, I’m so proud of myself for making it happen.
