In our honest review of Xfinity Mobile, my husband and I are covering the benefits of choosing Xfinity for mobile service and how much money we’re saving with their plan options.
**This post is sponsored by Xfinity, but we do pay for our mobile services. All opinions are our own.**
Everything we wrote 7 months ago in our Xfinity cable and internet review still holds true. In fact, we’re so happy with Xfinity that after sorting through lots of Xfinity Mobile reviews, we decided to switch our phones over, too!
Making the Switch to Xfinity Mobile
It makes me cringe when I think about how many hours of my life I’ve lost to dealing with issues from mobile providers over the years. Nothing is ever transparent, and every time you talk to someone else you get told something different. No one is on the same page and I’ve constantly felt like I was just being ripped off and confused on purpose. Sound familiar?
Honestly, I had given up hope that a mobile provider could be any different. But, as you’ll see in our video Xfinity Mobile review below, we’re already happy with the switching experience and service thus far. Thank you for making this easy, Xfinity!
My iPhone 13 Pro Max isn’t here yet, but Shaun was able to walk out of the store with an iPhone 13 Pro a few weeks ago. So, he officially has Xfinity Mobile while I’m still stuck with out previous provider until my phone arrives. I’ve been quite jealous of Shaun’s service and his experience has me eagerly waiting to finally have Xfinity Mobile myself. I’ll let him lead with a thorough Xfinity Mobile review and then I’ll jump back in with some Xfinity Mobile details!
Honest Review of Xfinity Mobile:
From Shaun: When it comes to my mobile service, I really don’t ask for much. I don’t do much video streaming, and when I do, it’s usually at home on Wi-Fi. So really, all I need is service that works well enough for me to send and receive both text messages and phone calls, and enough data for me to peruse social media. Unfortunately, believe it or not, that’s always seemed to be too much to ask.
So, with that said, I really didn’t have any expectations when we made the switch to Xfinity Mobile. I figured, as long as it wasn’t any worse than what we currently had, then I’d be fine with it. Now, after having Xfinity Mobile for a few weeks, I have to say I’m blown away. Not only has the coverage and service been far superior to any mobile provider I’ve had in the past, but the price that we’re paying is significantly cheaper! The mobile service itself has been fantastic, but then when you add the Xfinity Mobile Hotspots on top of it, it’s truly unbelievable.
There are areas that I’ve never had service in my entire life that I had just given up hope on, but since switching to Xfinity Mobile, I have service in almost all of them now. It’s great when I walk into a building, or even if I’m just walking down the street, and I get the notification on my phone that I just automatically connected to a mobile hotspot. The seamless flow between all of Xfinity’s devices and services is what has really set them apart from all of the competition, in my opinion. At this point, I would happily recommend Xfinity Mobile, Xfinity Internet, and Xfinity Cable to anyone.
What is Xfinity Mobile?
Xfinity Mobile is Xfinity’s powerful, affordable mobile service network known for flexible plan options and 24/7 customer support. It’s only for Xfinity internet customers! I features a combination of America’s best LTE coverage paired with millions of nationwide WiFi hot spots that allows customers to be efficient with both data and dollars.
Pros and Cons of Xfinity Mobile
Pros
The pros that really stand out to me are:
- Affordable, transparent pricing
- Extensive coverage map powered by Verizon’s network
- Nationwide 5G (yes, Xfinity Mobile has 5G!)
- Access to millions of hotspots.
I was also delighted to find out that you don’t have to add on anything extra to your plan for tethering your phone as a hotspot.
Cons
While we don’t really have any “cons” about the service, here are a few points that you might want to be aware of:
- Xfinity Mobile is only available to Xfinity Internet customers
- Reduced speeds after 20 GB of usage per line
- 5G ultra wideband available only in parts of select cities
- The unlimited data plan defaults to standard quality resolution for video streaming (but By the Gig plans do support HD quality resolution for video streaming and you can add an HD Pass to Unlimited plans for HD streaming).
Xfinity Mobile Phone Deals
We were each able to get $300 off our new iPhones (which is still going on until October 31st). Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices are now available online and in Xfinity stores. If you’re bringing your own phone, you can get a $50 Visa Prepaid card now through November 17!
Don’t worry if you missed these deals, there are always a few awesome Xfinity Mobile offers going on! Isn’t it great that they have all the details spelled out on their website?
How does the Xfinity network work?
If you’re wondering, “Is Xfinity Mobile any good?”, it’s honestly a no brainer. Xfinity mobile runs on Verizon’s nationwide 5G network along with millions of Xfinity WiFi hotspots. So, you get Verizon’s reliability in addition to a massive amount of hotspots that your phone will connect to automatically. Plans & Prices
Whether you’re looking just for yourself or you’re looking at Xfinity mobile family plans, the plan and pricing options are simple and easy to understand. Plus, all plans come with free unlimited talk and text. There’s also a Global Travel Pass option that you can add to any line when traveling abroad to extend coverage.
Unlimited Plan Details
There are really only two options when picking an Xfinity Mobile plan – Unlimited or By the Gig. We went with the Unlimited plan. While you do have unlimited data, speeds are reduced after 20 GB of usage per line. Neither one of us ever went over 20 GB with our previous provider, so this isn’t a detail that we’re stressed about. Plus, they were upfront about this factor at the store. In fact, all the details are right on the Xfinity website in easy to digest verbiage.
Unlimited Plan Pricing
The Xfinity Mobile Unlimited Plan starts at $45 a month, but you can get it down to $30 a month if you have 4 or more lines.
By the Gig Plan Details
If you prefer a plan where you’re sharing data across all lines, By the Gig might be a better option for you.
By the Gig Plan Pricing
You can get 1 GB of data for $15/month, 3 GB for $30/month, or 10 GB for $60/month. There are no crazy charges if you go over your selected plan amount, you simply just pay another $15 for another gig. Plus, you can switch back and forth between By the Gig and Unlimited at any time.
Xfinity Mobile and Internet Bundle
While there isn’t an official bundle in place, Xfinity Mobile costumers get a $10 discount off of their Xfinity Internet bill! In fact, being an internet customer is the only way to get Xfinity Mobile.
Customer Service at In Store Locations
We had an awesome experience at the Xfinity Greensburg store. Everyone was so pleasant and efficient. I didn’t feel like a burden for asking a lot of questions, which I really appreciated. We also had a positive experience at the Xfinity Washington store (where we signed up for our TV/internet) and the Xfinity Bridgeville store (where I went to ask questions before we moved into our house).
From Shaun: The in-store experience that we had at the Greensburg, PA location was second to none. Every single employee that we dealt with was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I also have to add that I was a delivery courier for six years, and I frequently delivered to this location. While most businesses that I delivered to were very off-putting and unwelcoming, I never had anything except an overwhelmingly positive experience at this location. No matter who was working, I was always enthusiastically greeted and everyone was always willing to help in any way that they could.
Why switch to Xfinity Mobile?
Overall, with Xfinity Mobile, you can expect more savings, less headaches, and great mobile coverage.
This is what we’re saving:
Once my phone switches over, we’ll be saving about $30-$40 per month! What’s even crazier is that we had 36 month payment plans with our last provider. This time we’re only doing 24 and we’re still saving that much money!
