Fall into Relaxation

This week has been the most stressful few days I’ve had in a long time. Between the pressure of starting up a new business, an ongoing family situation with my teenage sister, and not having time in my days to do the simplest things like going to the food store, life has been just a bit crazy lately. It’s moments like this where I have to remind myself that shutting my mind down, even for a few minutes, needs to be a part of my everyday routine. Because the truth is, once you realize you need to de-stress, it’s already too late. I have to get better about making time for me everyday, not just on days where I’m ready to pull my hair out!

Here’s a few little ways I’ve decided to treat myself to relaxation this week right at home:

1.) My Julep Maven Beauty Box

Every month when the mailman delivers my Julep package, my world stops for a few minutes so that I can drool over the products and play with the fabulous new nail polish colors.

This is not your ordinary subscription box program. Julep Maven is the only customizable box of full-size, limited-run nail colors and beauty innovations. You can see what is in your box each month and have the option of swapping out colors/products you already have or don’t want and will never use. That means no surprises, no dupes or colors you don’t like! You will use every single product – I promise. Plus, it’s super affordable – you get over $40 of full-size products in every box for just $24.99 per month.

Try it for yourself! Become a Maven today, use the code FREETREATS to get your own 4-Piece Halloween Themed Gift for New Maven Subscribers for FREE (you just pay $2.99 for shipping) now through 11/3.

2.) CHOOSE your Mood and escape with Lifetherapy

To be 100% honest, discovering the Lifetherapy brand as played a huge role for me in starting to become more aware of my mood. My mind is always racing a thousand miles a minute with 86 window tabs open in my brain every second of every day. Every time I see their posts on social media, it’s a gentile reminder that stress or chaos is not a good mood to be in all the time. I tell myself to just take a deep breath and escape.

“As fragrance and color are often the first things noticed or the last things remembered, we are inspired to impact your life in a tangible, lasting and positive way.”

Fragrance is the quickest way to evoke a MOOD and memory, which is why Lifetherapy’s collection of products in fragrance and accessories are designed to create emotional awareness through the therapeutic powers of senses and MOOD. Lifetherapy’s MOOD boosting fragrances are paraben free, phthalates-free, sulfate-free not tested on animals, and made in the USA.

3.) Light a few Elia Candles

Nothing says relaxation like lighting a few candles, closing you eyes, and enjoying the aroma. As we’ve learned from our friends at Lifetherapy, scent can play a a huge role in helping you CHOOSE you mood. Recently, I’ve fallen in love with Elia Candles. Founder, Ivonne Ynterian, started creating her own products when asthma stopped her from indulging in common highly scented candles.

Priding themselves on producing an eco-friendly brand, all Elia Candles are made using 100% beeswax and coconut wax, fragrance oils, and lead free cotton wicks. Ivonne has created the perfect wax blend and fragrance combinations to give a full and clean burn to her candles. ?Tried and tested by yours truly, they smell great without overpowering your senses.

4.) Turn yourself upside down (literally)

One thing I’ve learned from my yoga practice is being upside-down does a body good! Head stand, shoulder stand, and hips on a block may look intimidating, but you can get the same restorative benefits at home just by lying down on your back and putting your legs straight up on a wall at home. Bring awareness to the parts of your body that are tense and breathe into them.

Getting your legs up brings blood flow into your digestive organs. Restorative yoga poses are extremely beneficial for strengthening and training your nervous system to prepare you for stressful situations.

If you’re in Pittsburgh, be sure to stop by Yoga Innovations to experience life and relax with an athletic, meaningful yoga practice while developing a stronger version of yourself.
