My Summersalt Backflip Review including pictures of myself in the Summersalt Ruffle Backflip – a flirty, flattering one-piece bathing suit.
My family just arrived for a week in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and of course I had to pack my Summersalt Ruffle Backflip swimsuit (I have a Summersalt Sidestroke review up, too!). From backyard fun in our inflatable Minnidip pool to days in the summer at my mom’s community pool and now a beach trip, this has been my go-to suit for months. Not only is this one of my summer essentials, but I know I’ll be wearing it for summers to come, too!

Summersalt Ruffle Backflip Review
Summersalt offers a few Backflip swimsuit styles. I went with the Ruffle Backflip since I tend to gravitate towards feminine pieces with a pit of flare. Pictured is the “Seaweed & Seaglass” colorway. There’s also a “Garden Party” floral Ruffle Backflip from Summersalt’s collaboration with Rifle Paper Co., which I desperately wish was still available in my size!
Many of my summer days this year have been spent with my niece by my side. That means, it’s essential for me to have no-fuss swimwear that stays in place. Plus, I also need something that gives me enough coverage for chasing a toddler, AND still looks cute. The Ruffle Backflip allows me to accomplish all of this. It’s a more modest option compared to the bikinis I reached for in my 20’s but still makes me feel young and flirty with the deep vee front, open back, and ruffle sleeves. Summersalt swimwear pieces balance the comport of stretch with the support of compression so they hold you in while still allowing for movement.
My favorite part – built in cups!
One of my favorite things about the Ruffle Backflip is that the cups are built in. So, there’s no adjusting the cups to keep them in place and they keep their shape to keep me looking my best.
Fit Notes: I’m wearing a size 6 in the Summersalt Ruffle Backflip pictured. It fits perfectly and true to size. If you do feel like you’re in between sizes, I recommend going with the larger size. There’s also a long torso Ruffle Backflip option if bathing suit length is issue for you.
Other Summersalt Backflip Suits
If ruffles aren’t your thing, try the Ruched Backflip, which features the same torso with elegant ruching at the straps instead of ruffles.
Or, consider the Tie Waist Backflip which features basic straps but add the element of a chic aesthetic tie at the waist.
Are Summersalt Swimsuits worth it?
As I mentioned in my Summersalt Sidestroke review, I was instantly impressed with the quality of my Summersalt Sidestroke. Over two years later, the fabric’s integrity and coloring still look perfect. Usually I hand wash it. Occasionally, I put it on “delicate” in the washer if the white portion looks like it needs a more thorough cleaning.
